Oily Skin Vol2 |
| Stop the Shine: Get
Rid of Your Oily Skin Today! |
| by Louise Forrest |
| |
If you
are one of the millions of people with oily skin, you
know the feeling of wanting to “mop up”
throughout the day. You know that shortly after washing
your face, it will soon have that glistening sheen on
it again. What you maybe do not realize is that your
oily skin is not something you have to live with. Your
oily skin can be treated, and what you will have left
is clear, glowing, shine-free skin. |
| |
| How Do I Know
if I Have Oily Skin? |
Oily
skin in characterized by excessive shininess on the
face, usually with enlarged pores and a greater chance
of developing blackheads and acne. Generally, the places
on the face on the face that are the shiniest are the
chin, the nose, the forehead, and the T-zone, which
is the area between the eyes and down the bridge of
the nose.
Oily skin is also prone to collecting and trapping dirt,
making the face appear unclean. Finally, if your face
begins to shine only a few hours or less after cleansing
it, or if you need to wash your face multiple times
each day to reduce the shine, you are exhibiting characteristics
of oily skin. If any of these sounds like conditions
you experience, chances are that you have an oily skin
type. |

| How Come I Have
Oily Skin and Other People Do Not? |
It can
seem very unfair that some people have clear, flawless
skin, especially when you are the one with the oily
skin condition. But remember, there are many different
skin types out there, and oily skin is just one of them.
Oily skin can result from several factors, including
your genetic makeup, hormone levels, the type of cosmetics
you use, and even weather conditions. Oily skin is usually
not caused by just one thing, but often by a combination
of these factors. These conditions can create an increase
in the amount of sebum that your skin produces, creating
the characteristic shine that those with an oily skin
tone have.
Sebum is the oily substance that your skin produces
that acts as a waterproofing agent that locks moisture
into your skin. Sebum is actually a necessary, good
part of your body, but when produced in large quantities,
it is a person with oily skin’s worst nightmare.

| How Do I Treat
My Oily Skin? |
Waking
up each morning and not having to worry about how shiny
your face is all day is completely possible. Oily skin
should be cleansed daily, sometimes two or even three
times per day, using hot water as this will dry out
the skin more than warm or cold water. It is, however,
important not to overwash your face because this can
stimulate oil glands to produce more sebum, which you
do not want. |
| |
Although
there are many treatments available to rid you of your
