Want To Know How To Treat Oily Skin?
by Louise Forrest

Oily skin can cause acne and is generally unattractive. People with oily skin have to take special care in how they deal with it. It isn’t a simple task of just using a moisturizer or washing your face. A lot of things contain oils (natural and synthetic) that can make the problem even worse. People with oily skin are prone to black heads, which are very unattractive.

Oily skin is cause by an overactive sebaceous gland. Oily skin can also be a hereditary affliction. Oily skin can be cause by poor diet, or a pregnancy. No matter what the cause it is hard to deal with constant acne and embarrassing blemishes. Even older people can have oily skin causing acne. Stress can also affect oil production within you pores.

Some oil on the skin is natural. Oil helps to retain moisture within the skin. Some of the acne and oil reducing products sold in store do nothing but dry out the skin causing your body yo produce more oil to compensate for how dry your skin now is. An easy solution is to wash your skin a ouple times a day with warm water and a mild cleanser.

To reduce pimples and blemishes you have to keep your skin moist and your pores open and free of debris and bacteria. Scratching just causes your pore to close and creates morebacteria making a pimple even bigger.

A advantage to having oily skin is that it stays younger for a longer period of time. Even though you have pimples now you will like your twenty well into your forties. When cleaning your oily skin make sure to use lots of warm water. It helps to keep your pores open so you can free them of oil, dirt, and bacteria.

Avoid skin cleaners that dehydrate your skin because they cause the pores to close up making it very hard to get the debris out of them. You have to choose your skin cleanser with care. Something that is oil based will only add more oil to your skin, as will something that dehydrates your skin. You need to find a mild cleanser that exfoliates and hydrates.

Avoid the use of heavy cleaners and harsh soaps and chemicals. Try an antibacterial cleaning agent or a mild soap.

If you have extremely oily skin you will have to clean it multiple times a day. You should start by massaging you skin to help open your pores. Don’t rub any soap into your skin because it can clog pores. If your skin is not just oily but flaky as well then try using a deep cleaning exfoliant and a light moisturizer to remove any dead skin cells.

Oily skin can also be caused by diet. Obviously you should stay away from greasy fast food places. You should be eating lots of proteins and staying away from sugars and salt. Make sure you eat your fruits and vegetables. If you aren’t getting enough essential vitamins then you should take supplements; especially vitamin B-2. Stay away from fatty food and avoid meats that are heavily seasoned and fried. Try not to drink to many soft drinks or alcoholic beverages. Avoid all cooked oils. Do not cook with oit and do not eat any oil that has been cooked.

Living with oily skin can be embarrassing as well as annoying. Constant pimples and blemishes that get really big and ugly can really lower your self-esteem. Remember you are not alone. Oily skin can be caused by many things, most commonly a hormonal imbalance brought on by puberty or pregnancy. Even though cleaning your oily skin can be quite time consuming, you will be glad you did it. It will be great for your skin and your overall health. Oily skin doesn’t have to be a prison sentence. With a little effort and the right knowledge you will have your skin cleared up in no time at all.
