Think You Cannot Whiten Your Teeth Without Going to The Dentist? Think Again!
by Louise Forrest

When thinking of ways to improve their appearance, many people opt to have their teeth whitened. When we smile our teeth are on show, and it can be embarrassing if they are not exactly white!

There are many treatments available which aim to improve the color of your teeth, and the most popular method of whitening is generally either a trip to the dentist, or by using one of the many home whitening kits. Not many people realize that often, we can whiten our teeth naturally, and it could save us a lot of money!

Sometimes the Best Things in Life Are Free (or at Least Cheap!)
Sometimes letting Mother Nature do its job is often the cheapest and most effective way of sorting out our teeth. Whilst natural remedies may not be free, they are incredibly cheap compared to the home whitening kits which are available to buy. So how exactly is it possible to whiten your teeth naturally?

Here are just a few natural options available to you:
Strawberries
Not only are strawberries extremely delicious, but they are also great for the teeth. They have a natural bleaching effect and are packed full of Vitamin C. All you have to do is bite into the strawberry and then rub the pulp along the teeth. If you do this daily it can really help to whiten your teeth, although the results may take a little while to appear.
Change Your Toothbrush Whenever Needed
Whilst this may seem irrelevant and fairly obvious, many people do not change their brushes often enough. A worn out toothbrush can no way help protect and get rid of plaque properly. This means that plaque will continue to form and will hide the whiteness of your teeth until it is gotten rid of. So, if you hold onto your toothbrush until the bristles are completely worn out, make a note to change brushes more often. It may help to considerably whiten your teeth!
Choose Your Snacks Carefully
If you swap your daily chocolate bar for a slightly healthier snack, you could really help to whiten the teeth. Raw vegetables really help to clean the teeth and whilst they may not have the same flavor as a chocolate bar, they are definitely a lot better for you and your teeth. So, the next time you feel like a snack, try nibbling on a carrot stick. It may not sound nice but it will keep your teeth sparkling.
Lemon
Lemon is often used in natural remedies for all kinds of problems. For teeth whitening, the peel of the lemon should be rubbed and massaged over the teeth. Be sure to rinse the teeth thoroughly afterwards.
Cut Down on Caffeine and Red Wine
It is said plenty of times that caffeine is bad for the body. Coffee in particular can really contribute towards staining your teeth, as can red wine. So cutting down your intake on both drinks will really help cut the stains on your teeth.
Kick the Habit
Smoking is one of the main causes of teeth stains and it successfully turns them yellow over time. The only way you can stop these stains from forming is if you constantly have your teeth professionally whitened, or if you stop smoking altogether. Not only will it help to naturally whiten your teeth, but it will also help to keep the rest of your body healthy too, especially your lungs!

Overall, the best way to keep your teeth shiny and white is to do it naturally. Not all home whitening kits work anyway so you could potentially waste a lot of money. Cleaning the teeth naturally is cheap, easy and effective; you just have to know what works and what does not.
