| How Do Deodorant And
Antiperspirant Differ? |
| by Louise Forrest |
| |
The is a perfectly natural and healthy process
that the body undertakes. In fact it is vital as it
helps to keep the body cool when the weather is very
hot. How much a person sweats does vary from person
to person and also just how active that person is.
For instance it is not unusual for a person to sweat
up to at least one point and that is just when they
are sleeping. Then during the day if you are exercising
a great deal then you will also be sweating a great
deal also. So if you are quite active during the compared
to a person who sits at a desk all day long then you
will need to find yourself a better deodorant than normal.
With nearly 3 million sweat glands the body is expected
to release some sweat on a regular basis but it is found
that women are able to handle the heat much better than
man. Therefore deodorants for women tend to be weaker
than the deodorants for men. So how can you be confident
of ?
Many of people are often confused as to what a deodorant
is and what an antiperspirant is. An antiperspirant
should be applied to the armpits and this works by essentially
creating a barrier over the sweat glands of the armpits
and preventing any excess sweating from occurring. The
active ingredients within the antiperspirant actually
dissolve the sweat on contact and this prevents you
from smelling bad as you sweat less.
A simple deodorant on the other hand is no more than
a body spray with a nice fragrance, and if you do sweat
then using a deodorant will do more than get rid of
the smell. If you do not use an antiperspirant then
a deodorant will not stop you from sweating and you
will then end up with seat patches on your skin.
Whilst antiperspirants are better at eliminating the
effects of smelling badly there is concern over the
excessive use of products as people are known to have
suffered from severe side effects of using chemical
based antiperspirants in excessive amounts. This is
due to the aluminium based ingredients that are used
as active ingredients.
But everyday deodorants are also posing a risk to health
due to the Parabens that are used to act as preservatives
and other man made ingredients used to stop the effects
of smelling and the many artificial ingredients that
are used.
So give the health risks that are associated with both
which should you actually use? Well if you can. Neither.
Instead try that will not stop you
from sweating but will kill off the bacteria that will
make smell upon contact. And the great thing about such
a product is that it generally tends to last the day
as opposed to a few hours which can be the case for
many spray-on deodorants and antiperspirants. |
