| Do You Really Need
Surgery? |

You have
probably and most likely to have heard all the stories
with regards to breast implants. Some say that they
are dangerous and some say that they are perfectly safe.
Which side of the story do you believe?
There are various groups that say one thing and the
other, and this can be said about most things in life.
Some even say that breast implants are directly linked
to breast cancer but there is no evidence to even suggest
that this is the case.
There is also another study that was performed in Canada
not too long and that suggested that breast implants
are linked towards women causing suicide. Again there
is no real evidence to suggest this but in the study
40,000 women were part of the research. Of this amount
25,000 had implants and the remaining had another form
of cosmetic surgery.
Those who had undergone breast implant surgery appeared
to have a much lower than average risk of actually developing
cancer of the breast and other conditions such as heart
disease. But the possibility of a woman committing suicide
after having cosmetic surgery is still being researched
and more information is needed.
Whilst this concept may appear to be a little shocking
it should be noted however that women who do opt for
cosmetic surgery are checked for overall good health
and their mental wellbeing before even being considered
for surgery of any kind. Even though a mental screening
is not always considered.
It is a fact that people are obsessed with how they
look especially with coverage of super models and news
of celebrities being able to go on crash diets and lose
a great deal of weight.
A lot of people who are looking for surgery in order
to improve their looks are really looking for no more
than a happiness cure, just like someone who eats a
chocolate bar. They want to be able and feel good about
themselves and this perfectly normal, natural and indeed
healthy.
What actually causes people to consider suicide are
those who feel that they have been let down by the surgery
after pinning all their hopes and what they believed
to be a miracle fix to end all of their problems. In
the research that was done, the number of women that
had breast implants a staggering 73% of women were more
than likely to commit suicide than those than did not
undergo such a procedure.
Of those who had another form of cosmetic surgery, there
was still a possibility that suicide could be committed
but it was not as high as 73%. But what you should you
remember is that this research shows the percentage
of women that are of risk of performing suicide not
the percentage of women that did performing suicide
after having had cosmetic surgery.
Out of the 25,000 women who had undergone surgery for
breast implants, a total of 58 women did commit suicide
after feeling let down by the surgery. |
