| The Risks Of Laser Treatment
As A Skin Care Method |
| by Louise Forrest |

You can find
facilities listed all over the Internet providing services
to assist in your . Laser treatment is fast becoming an option for many
skin conditions. For instance, if you have acne, birthmarks,
broken capillaries, spider veins, brown spots, and or deep
lines and wrinkles, care might be right for you. It seems that
the world has embraced laser treatment as some sort of panacea
for skin ailments.
Although laser treatment has been around for quite some time
and has been proven to help in many instances involving skin
care, it has recently been listed as having some unanticipated
effects just being discovered in labs based in Thailand. Since
skin care has reached epic public saturation, it would behoove
you to understand what you may be getting into before you
slap down your hard won dollar for a .
Besides laser treatment being relatively expensive to other
, it is also considered to be cosmetic and
not covered under most medical insurance policies. This ability
for laser treatment to reside outside of tightly regulated
medical supervision, allows its operators to claim many benefits
that have not been medically proven or tested.
When you allow yourself to go under the beam, you must consider
that the method used by the technician could result in widely
varying end products. One end result you may want to take
into account is hyper pigmentation. This condition can be
created by certain methods used by facilities when they apply
the laser to your skin. Your ; so do not count on the
technician or facility to fully inform you on the many things
that can result from their method of treatment.
It has been found by scientists in Thailand that using the
laser on a controlled group of test subjects in certain conditions
caused the patients to develop hyper pigmentation. Sometimes
this condition appeared to be quite severe on the affected
areas treated with the laser. It took quite a few tests to
determine the active factors in the creation of hyper pigmentation
in the subjects tested.
After trials had entered the final stages, the experts had
discovered one seeming innocuous procedure that seemed to
have a connection to the development of hyper pigmentation
in the test subject after laser treatment. It has been the
practice of many facilities to alleviate patient discomfort
during laser treatment by applying a cool blast of air against
the area of skin being worked on by the laser.
It was found that this procedure had some effect and deemed
further investigation. What resulted was a theory that will
change the way provide their laser treatments. According
to scientists using a control group of 23 Thai women, it was
found that using a cool blast of air thirty seconds before
or thirty seconds after the treatment increased the incidence
of hyper pigmentation.
Unfortunately, the scientists were not able to determine why
this happens when patients using laser treatments as skin
care apply the cold air against the skin under the laser.
It was only determined that the cold offset increased the
chance of developing hyper pigmentation. So, if you intend
to go under the laser in order to compliment you current , you should look into this study and ensure
that the facility is aware of this possible effect. You may
want to consider facilities that offer laser treatment without
the cold option, so you will not have to worry about this
effect. This due diligence will ensure that you will not have
to fear developing a condition when you are trying to clear
up another skin condition. |
