Practical Guidelines For Better Personal Footcare
by Louise Forrest

Worldwide, it is estimated that about 75% to 80% of all adults above the age of 50 years old are experiencing different types and forms of foot problems. That is because the feet are heavily relied on when it comes to doing almost all physical activities. When proper care in not accorded to the feet, chances are greater that there would be skin aliments that may develop around the area in the feet. Exposure to dirt, dust and different harsh elements also gives the feet better reasons to stay protected. Thus, good footcare regimens should be observed by just about anyone.

Footcare is among the most neglected personal care activities. That is the reason people need to make sure they are personally providing better attention to the subject. To begin with, here are several practical guidelines that would help attain and maintain good footcare in the personal level.

-
Make sure the feet stays clean and healthy. To do so, it would be advisable if you would wash each foot regularly or at least once every day. Use water and soap to do so. Spare a few minutes of your daily busy schedule to do so. If you have more time, it would be more advisable if you would soak your feet longer so that the natural oil levels in the feet would be more balanced. However, make sure to carefully and thoroughly dry your feet after each washing session, especially before putting on shoes or other footwear. Pay more particular attention to the spaces in between each of the toes.
-
Invest in a good foot cream and apply it to each foot's skin on a daily basis. Do this more especially when the feet usually dries uncontrollably. A good moisturizing cream applied thickly to feet would make a good difference. Rub the cream generously and smoothly into the feet. You can massage our feet while doing so to better ramp up good effects from the action. Massaging helps make circulation in the feet better and more characterized.
-
Make sure to keep the nails in the toes always trimmed. It pays to maintain short and neatly cut toenails. Use good pairs of clippers, scissors or nail cutters to do so. To make the shape more appropriate for a good footcare, make sure you follow that nail's natural curve. Leave a free edge at the tip of the nails, or approximately about a quarter of an inch.
-
Do not walk barefoot especially in public places. The floor can accumulate millions of germs and microorganisms that when collected by the skin in the feet can lead to formation of severe and serious foot problem and diseases. When walking around the gym's changing and shower rooms or in swimming pool areas, make sure to wear proper and appropriate footwear. Athletes' foot and verrucae are common foot diseases that can be picked from exposing feet to germs in public places.
-
Wear the best footwear products for you. Do not buy shoes that are either does not fit or too large for you. Find the most comfortable sizes of shoes to make sure your feet would not be stressed when you wear such accessories. Also rely on the quality of materials used. Leather shoes are better because they naturally allow feet to breath.
