Skincare Tips For The Cold Months
by Louise Forrest

Winter is an inevitable season of the year. While many are thrilled at the onset of winter, there are several people who dread the biting cold. Other than the chilling feeling, there are several skin problems that arise and show up during winter. Contrary to common perception, cold weather is more of a significant factor in drying the skin. The cold temperature makes the air dryer because there is less humidity. This is practically bad for skin health. Your skin and your hair would surely suffer and manifest changes.

It would be helpful if you would do important and recommended measures in taking great care of the skin during the onset of winter season. Here are some practical tips that would help you carry on and overcome the bad effects of winter season to the skin and hair.

-
Take care of the skin on the hands. The hands are the most exposed parts of the body to cold temperature. That is because aside from just normal exposure, people use it to do activities. You shovel snow deposits, wipe off snow and do regular house chores using your hands. As a means to take better care of your hands and the skin in it during winter, it is advisable that you use hand gloves. Gloves are effective in providing great protection to the skin in the hands during cold weather. Aside from gloves, do not forget to apply creams and lotions to the hands. Do so at least every time you wash hands to make sure the good effects of such products are retained.
-
Exfoliate your skin and moisturize it as well even amid the biting cold season. It is important not to neglect your responsibilities to your skin despite the cold weather. Cover the entire body with proper clothing like sweaters. Having protection from the head down to the toe would be appropriate and would do wonders.
-
Even if it is wintertime, do not forget to apply sunscreen to your face and other exposed body parts especially when you are going outdoors. Even with snow all around, sunlight can still carry in damaging ultraviolet rays that may be further intensified by the cold season.
-
Provide protection to the hair against static by using an appropriate hair conditioner. Hair conditioning products help lock in the appropriate and useful moisture and nutrients in the hair. By applying conditioner, you are ensuring the overall health and nutrition of the hair.
-
As for the lip area, which is also usually affected by extremely cold weather, use lip balms and other lip conditioning products that would help maintain skincare around the area. These products would also help treat and prevent cracking and chapping of the lips. Obviously, use of such products makes the lips more beautiful and kissable.

Winter does not necessarily prompt people to forget and set aside usual skincare regimens and measures. In contrast, experts assert that people should further stick in to their usual skincare efforts in the season to ensure overall health and maintenance of good skin condition.
