Can
You Really Reduce The Appearance of Scars Naturally?
|
| by Louise Forrest |
| |
The biggest
problems which scars create are the psychological ones.
For some people, their scars just do not bother them
at all, however, for most people they would rather die
than let anybody else see them. |
| |
Millions
of dollars are spent each year on therapies and treatments
to remove scars. Although scars do show our experience
of life, they can also look unsightly and many people
would rather go through extremely painful surgery to
remove them, than have to show them to the world forever
more. Whilst it is never really possible to completely
remove scars, it is possible to reduce their appearance.
The question is, is surgery really the best answer? |

| Natural Scar Treatments |
Scars
do tend to fade naturally as we get older anyway, so
often if you give it a couple of years, you should notice
a dramatic reduction in the scars appearance. In children
scars tend to heal a lot more quickly and they disappear
at a faster rate than an adult’s scar would.
This is because when we get older, our body does not
heal as quickly as it used to and often a scar may take
anywhere up to ten years to heal. That is why many people
opt to have surgery or use some other form of scar reduction
treatment. |

There
are some natural products which claim to work on scars
and one strange example includes rubbing a raw, sliced
potato on the face. This helps to get rid of any blemishes
and scars and some people swear by it. Some other natural
treatments which may work include: |
| |
 |
Aloe
Vera
For fairly new scars, Aloe Vera may be
able to help. The only problem is you may not
be able to find an Aloe Vera plant. The leaves
of the plant are needed and if you do manage to
find one, squeezing the leaf and applying the
juice which comes out of it onto the scar is the
best way to use this treatment. However, Aloe
Vera gel also works if you cannot find a plant,
and adding lemon juice to the scar too will also
help as lemon has natural bleaching properties
in it. |
 |
Cucumber
Cucumber juice is often used on scars, especially
acne scars. It is thought to tighten the pores
and again, if you add lemon juice it tends to
brighten the scars and make them less visible.
You should leave the cucumber juice and lemon
juice on for around ten minutes and then wash
it off. |

Lemon
Juice
As mentioned various times already, lemon juice
can really help to decrease the appearance of
scars. Its natural bleaching properties help the
scars to fade and if used every day on the affected
area, it should really help. It is important that
you only apply the juice to the affected area
as otherwise the skin will sting quite a lot!
Overall those mentioned are the most natural ways
to lighten and decrease the appearance of scars
and blemishes. Many people with acne scars use
cucumber juice every day and they swear by it.
All natural treatments should be repeated daily
but remember that it often takes months for results
to show.
Natural treatments are by far the best treatments
to go with, but if for any reason you find that
natural methods are not helping, you may wish
to enquire about laser surgery.
Always try out the natural remedies first and
if you have no luck, then try the traditional
treatments, you never know, the natural products
may work for you and you will have saved an awful
lot of money if they do! You never know if something
will work unless you give it a try. Always remember,
removing scars completely is almost impossible,
but you can reduce their appearance! |
