Common Psoriasis Symptoms
by Louise Forrest

Do you have small patches of red color on the skin, feeling any itching? It may be due to psoriasis. Analyze the problem for some time, and if it remains same, visit your physician for proper checkup.

The white color patches normally seen in the folds of arms and legs and the breast area. It the patch is with or without any irritation, psoriasis may be there. It may be due to heredity factors but is commonly found in the age group of 15 to 35 years. Emergence of the disease may be slow. It is assumed that some signals are passed to the white blood cells in the body system during any injury, and the skin reacts to that situation with the defense system with the white blood cells. So the area becomes red and irritation may start.

There may be other several reasons for the same. Those include bacterial or viral infection, any allergy due to weather or material, some medicines used or lack of Vitamin D, excess drinking of alcohol and other liquids or the body is infected with cancer, AIDS or any other incurable disease.

The affect of the disease may be on all parts of the body. Five types of psoriasis namely Erythrodermic, Guttate, Inverse, Plaque, Pustular are researched by the Medical Research community. Erythrodermic, a type of psoriasis skin disease, covers a large area with dark reddish color; Guttate covers the small pink or red color spots on the skin. Inverse psoriasis, where the skin has small red color patches and at armpits, breasts etc. In Plaque type where red patches on the skin are wrapped by silver white scales, and, in Pustular type where white color blisters are covered with red itching skin.

The treatment depends on different situations that people are facing. The physician may ask for routine check up, then x-ray and biopsy if the risk is more. The main stress is given for the root cause of the problem. Maybe, these scary patches spread all over the body and there is a need for the treatment round the clock in hospital. This is taken as a safety measure to prevent other problems.

Sometimes, an antibiotic or a cream or ointment is prescribed to you by the Dermatologists to prevent further spreading. Other measures such as taking more bath, usage of anti dandruff shampoo or moisturizers should be used to try and halt the spreading of patches.

Different medicines with different usage prescription may be given to different people according to the intensity of the disease. This can be chosen by your physician only. The best preventive measure is to keep your skin clean regularly. Still the research is going on for the best solutions and medicines.

Consult your physician regularly for the regular check up of yourself. Only then you can stay away from this disease.
