Organic Skin Care Products are More Expensive
by Louise Forrest

If you would go out and check out the organic skin care stalls in malls and markets, you would surely discover one interesting fact: organic skin care products are significantly more costly than the conventional and usual skin care products that are made of synthetic chemicals and other artificial ingredients.

Experts assert that higher tag prices of organic skin care goods pose impediments for people to transfer and shift to using such natural products. Of course, with the media hype and all the information campaigns, people are very much aware that organic products are healthier and are more environment-friendly. People naturally are interested in using products that they know they are very much safe.

But because of the very high costs of such organic skin care products, a significantly high number of consumers stick to the conventional skin care products. Costs disable many consumers to be more responsible in buying products that do not further degrade the environment. Costs disable consumers to go organic and indeed healthier.

To better illustrate the very wide price gap between conventional skin care products and organic skin care goods, look at the following comparisons. In the market, a regular sized Dove soap for example costs about $8 per unit, compared to about $45 to $60 tag price attached to each piece of an organic beauty skin bar. Regular baby powder sells at just $10 per regular bottle, against $75 per bottle tag price for organic skin care products.

You would certainly drowse at the astronomical costs of other organic skin care products being sold across the market. Baby lotion costs about $180 per bottle, organic facial scrubs are priced at about $110 to $140 and mousse foundation costs about $275. For budget conscious consumers and households, especially during the current hard times, such products would be too impractical when in fact, conventional goods made of synthetic chemicals cost about 10 times lower.

Manufacturers of organic skin care products justify their pricing schemes. According to them, it pays to ensure overall health of the skin. Organic products are entirely made up of all-natural ingredients. Some of those ingredients are hardly found and are imported from various countries like Hawaii, Indonesia, the Philippines, Africa, China and other countries. Manufacturing of such goods are made more meticulous aside from the fact that limited supply and robust demand influence the supply-demand chain.

Such companies and several experts also argue that investing in organic skin care products would be advantageous and beneficial on the part of the consumers. For one, skin ailments, allergies and irritations would surely be prevented and eliminated. Such products also do not bring about adverse skin reactions.

Many consumers cannot do anything but abide by the current market pricing trend for organic skin care products. Many hope that in the near future, such products would be priced more competitively. Several analysts assert that price declines are not impossible if supplies would rise up, governments would provide subsidies and organic companies would be motivated enough to aim to bring their products to a wider base of consumers.
