Oily Skin and Other Skin Types
by Louise Forrest

All over the world, a rising number of people, particularly teenagers, is complaining about having oily skin. Having oily skin has become a problem because the skin condition appears less healthy. Some people despise oily skin because it looks dirty. Oiliness is often associated with the uncontrollable and unlikely appearance of pimples and acne. That is because pollutants and dirt accumulate and sink to the pores of the facial skin after combining with the abundant supply of oil.

That is why as much as possible, people always aim to eliminate the problem of oily skin. There are various skin care products now out in the market to help people carry out the initiative. Proper hygiene and skin care regimens are also abounding to help people combat the problem.

It would be helpful if you would know more about the features of different skin types. As you know, having oily skin is not healthy and is often a cause of problem. But did you know that other skin types are equally troubling and are also considered unhealthy? To begin with, oily skin is characterized by shiny and enlarged pores. The skin texture becomes coarse and the skin tends to trap more dirt and dead skin cells. Oily skin is often a factor that leads to formation of pimples and acnes.

Skin is dehydrated when it obviously and apparently lacks moisture. However, the skin may not lack oil, only water or moisture content. Thus, oily skins can be dehydrated at the same time. Such skin type is manifested by dull appearance and rough texture. Experts assert that this skin type is the product of excessive cleansing, poor intake of fluid, overindulgence in alcohol, smoking, crash dieting and sunbathing.

Dry skin is rough and appears less glowing. This skin type ages more quickly because lack of lubrication in the skin deteriorates the elastic tissue beneath the skin.

Skin is sensitive when it easily flushes, even to the slightest stimulation. The condition occurs because the sebaceous glands underneath the skin are sensitive and easily reacts to stimuli. Such skin type is delicate as it is highly prone to allergies and breakage of capillaries. The skin is easily irritated by even short exposure to sun, and wind and consumption of spicy foods.

Mature skin is dry and is present in almost all aging people. Renewal of skin cells start to slow down as oil and moisture content is significantly lost. The skin reduced elasticity and is no longer able to spring back once manipulated. Wrinkles and fine lines are also evident.

Overall, normal skin is the most ideal of them all. That is because in this type, moisture and oil levels are well balanced. The suderiferous glands, which secrete sweat, and the sebaceous glands, which produce oil, work together to make skin smooth and unblemished. Not too many people are gifted with normal skin, but you could actually develop one if you would only take good care of your skin.
