Oily Skin Vol3 |
| Does you face feel
like an oil slick? |
| by Louise Forrest |
| |
Oily skin
is a common problem. It is especially common among pregnant
women and people going through puberty. Oily skin causes
pimples and blemishes that are very unattractive. Having
oily skin is natural, so don’t start thinking
you are a mutant, it affects a lot of people and there
are a lot of ways you can help keep your oily skin in
check. |
|
Oily
skin is caused by an overactive sebaceous gland. The
sebaceous gland produces oil to help keep moisture in
your skin. The oil that is produced by your skin can
also lock debris and dirt into the pores causing them
to become clogged. Once your pores are clogged they
can become itchy which will cause more dirt, debris,
and bacteria to become stuck in your pores and this
results in a pimple. |
| |
Your
skin produces some oil naturally to help lock moisture
into it. There are products on the market that help
reduce the oil on your skin and remove pimples. Some
of these products remove all the oil in you skin causing
you body to produce even more to make up for what it
has just lost. Instead of using a harsh product try
cleaning daily with warm water and a mild cleanser. |
| |
To reduce
the size and appearance of pimples and blemishes you
need to keep you pores open and clean. You don’t
need products to do this. This can be achieved by using
warm water to open your pores and a mild cleanser to
clean them. People have a hard time keeping their fingers
away from their zits. This is bad! Scratching causes
your pores to close up and your hands add more bacteria
making the pimple even larger and more unsightly. |
| |
Having
oily skin isn’t entirely bad. Oily skin helps
to keep you looking younger. Even unsightly pimples
can’t diminish the fact that you will look twenty
well into your forties and fifties. |
| |
Cleaning
oily skin can be hard because a lot of products have
oil in them, or they dry your skin out causing your
body to produce even more oil. You need to use a mild
cleanser that also exfoliates and hydrates. You must
avoid heavy cleansers, look for antibacterial soaps
and creams instead. |
| |
If your
skin is more oily than usual, then you will have to
clean multiple times a day. A good way to open up your
pores is by rubbing them gently. This also helps to
loosen up some of the dirt that is stuck deep inside.
When rubbing your skin make sure your hands are clean
and avoid rubbing any soap into the skin because it
can clog pores. Sometimes your skin is not only oily
but flaky as well. The best thing to do here is choose
an exfoliant to clean deep down dirt and remove dead
skin cells. |
| |
There
are many things that cause oily skin. Some experts think
it’s hereditary, but there is one cause that is
preventable, your diet. Your diet can cause oily skin.
I don’t think you need to be told to avoid eating
greasy fast food burgers or pizza, but you should also
avoid eating lots of sugars and salts. |
| |
A healthy
diet and lots of water is the best thing to eat to help
curb oily skin. Make sure you eat lots of fruits and
veggies. If you don’t feel you are getting enough
essential nutrients than take some supplements, especially
vitamin B-2. |
| |
Oily
skin isn’t rare and you aren’t the only
person suffering from it. There are many causes of it
and some are preventable. Always remember to eat healthy
and clean your skin regularly. If you are going through
puberty or are pregnant then you are at a higher risk
for oily skin. Avoid soft drinks and alcoholic beverages
as well as cooking with oil. With a little perseverance
and knowledge you can clear your skin up in no time
