4-Step Routine For Oily Skin
by Louise Forrest

If you have oily skin, there is a four-step technique you should follow. Oily skin is both unattractive and unhealthy. If you have oily skin you should be gentle on your skin. Treating oily skin harshly can over stimulate the sebaceous glands. This will only generate more sebum and the surface layers of your skin will still be dry and dehydrated.

The best care for your oily skin occurs when you use products that will cleanse the oils from the surface of your skin in a gentle manner. The cleanser will also unclog the pores and not damage your skin or cause it dry out. To ensure that your complexion stays beautiful and healthy you have to keep your skin hydrated. If the facial cleanser you use will not do that you will also need to use lotions that will hydrate your skin.

Here are the 4 basic steps you should take to remove oily skin

1.
Remove your eye makeup. The area around the eyes has the most delicate skin on your face. This skin is usually dryer as well. You should soak some cotton wool with non-oily eye make-up remover and then hold the cotton over your eyes. Leave them on for a couple of minutes letting the make-up dissolve. Make sure you cover your eyelids and the lower and upper lashes. Whatever type of eye makeup you use you will need to use that specific type of eye makeup remover.
2..
Cleanse your skin. The first thing you should do when cleansing your skin is splash some water on your face. Use a foaming type facial wash and not regular soap as this can make your skin dry. The facial cleanser should remove any dirt and oil that has accumulated during the day. Message your damp skin using your fingertips and then rinse off using warm water. There are many type of foaming facial cleansers that are specifically designed for oily skin. This is the most important step when dealing with oily skin.
3.
Tone your skin. Take some cotton wool and soak it in some astringent lotion. Wipe the cotton over your skin, as this will refresh your skin on your face and cool it as well. If the toner you are using irritates your face switch to another toner, one that is gentler to your skin.
4.
Moisturize your skin. Even if you have oily skin you still need to moisturize the skin. By using a light and gentle skin moisturizer it will help balance the level of moisture in the top layers of your skin. Do not use a thick moisturizer as it may compound your problem of oily skin. You should use skin moisturizer that is made up of fluid that is watery. Let the skin absorb the moisturizer for a couple of minutes. Then use a tissue and press it gently over the sin on your face to sop up the excess skin moisturizer. By doing this you can keep from having a complexion that is glossy or has sheen. To take the best care of your oily skin you need to improve the moisture levels in your skin as well as controlling excess oil.

You can choose skin care products designed especially for the type of skin you have. If you are not sure about the product at all do not use it and test it out but ask a professional, such as a dermatologist. You should try to follow this routine every day even if you do not have oily skin any longer. By following this routine you can take care of your oily skin in a healthier matter and not damage your skin.
