Hair Type And Oily Hair
by Louise Forrest

Generally having hair that is oily is a result of the scalp producing far too much sebum. People who have oily skin also appear to have that hair that is oily also. So what contributes towards oily hair and has your hair type got anything to do with it?

Oily hair is not subject to a specific group of people but it can happen to just anyone. But people with a certain hair type seem to be more prone to having oily hair. For example if the hair is long and very straight, then the chances of getting oily hair are increased. This is because the oily is working its way down the hair whilst starting from the scalp. But if the hair is curly then having oily hair is less likely to happen.

So having hair that is not just straight is likely to help you, but this is by no means an actual guarantee that if you get some curls then you will never have oily hair.

Some of the signs of hair that is oily, is that it is generally lifeless and dull and it needs to be cleaned carefully. You can wash your hair frequently but make sure that you shampoo product is mild and natural if you wish to do this. Washing too often with a shampoo that is chemical based would not be advised at all as this could cause more harm then actual good.

If you do notice that your hair is oily then you should look at treating this as soon as possible as oily hair can lead to other problems such as spots and acne and other skin blemishes. This happens because the oily is travelling from the scalp to the hair and then onto the skin itself.

Another thing that you need to be careful of is brushing your hair too often. Whilst this may feel relaxing and makes the hair look nice it does stimulate oil glands and if your hair is already only, then this is not something that you want to be doing. You should brush once a day and no more.

Another problem that can be a result of brushing too much especially if you have oily hair is that your hair could fall out. This seems to happen to men over the age of 30 and oily hair can also potentially lead to dandruff which again is something that you do not want to add to your oily hair problem.

One other factor that you should consider, which many do not, is when you are asleep. Oil from your hair is being absorbed by your pillow. So each time you sleep you are applying more oil to your pillow which in turn is reapplying that oil back to your hair and also your face. This can lead to more oily hair and also spots on the face.

Generally as we have seen having oily hair is not fun but whilst it can lead to other problems it can be treated without too much difficulty. Always make sure that you are using products for the hair that are natural and remember to rinse carefully after you have washed.
