| Are Manicures Really
Worth It? |
| by Louise Forrest

Whilst
most of the world probably do not give their hands a
second thought, even though they are used daily and
are on permanent display. One of the most neglected
parts of the body are the nails and these can often
seen to be ripped, uneven and also dirty.
One of the simplest ways to look after our hands and
nails is to visit the salon on a regular basis and to
have a manicure performed.
Now a manicure is not just for the rich and the famous
– it is something that you really should consider
and it is a great way to keep your nails and hands very
healthy.
The techniques for a manicure can vary greatly from
salon to salon and various options can include putting
your hands into warm wax. When generally happens then
is that your hands are wrapped in foil for instance
and this is to help retain the warmth within your hands.
And before you think that manicures are only for women
then you are very much mistaken. It is also men that
are now taking a greater pride in their appearance and
the male cosmetics industry is one that is growing from
strength to strength.
The only negative side of having a manicure is that
thee is a very small possibility that you develop a
possible infection fro the equipment that is used. The
chances of this happening are very remote and will only
happen if you are not at a professional salon with no
expert staff.
Generally staff at a salon do need to be licensed as
they are actually dealing with the human body so a level
of standard does need to be in practice.
But if going to the salon is not really for you then
you can also perform a manicure at home and this will
help to save on money also
But one thing that you should be aware of is that the
average manicure can take up to 45 minutes in length.
And here are some tips on how to give yourself a great
manicure in the comfort of your own home
What you need to do first is actually prepare the hands
and the nails - and what you need to do is to make sure
that your hands and nails are clean.
Once your hands and nails are clean then you should
move onto the cuticles. Here all you really need to
do is to apply some softener to the cuticles and then
allow the hands to soak in some water. And make sure
that when you are pushing the cuticles back that you
are not hurting yourself in anyway.
Then all you need to do is to clean and polish the nails.
When polishing you need to ensure that you do not over
apply otherwise you may get an uneven and bumpy finish
and this will look unattractive.
Once you have finished it is very important that you
thoroughly clean all the equipment that you have used. |
