Fungus Nails
by Louise Forrest

These are normally caused by very small organisms that start at the tip of the nail and if left alone it can affect the rest of the nail and also other nails. So what can you do to stop it?

If the infected nail is treated then the fungus can affect the nail root and this can cause the nail to become very thick indeed and even deformed. It can make wearing shoes difficult as the nail is rubbing against the shoe itself. It is normally the big toes that is affected first and this can then spread to other areas.

During the early stages of the fungus developing, there is normally a yellowish colour that develops as well as a foul smell developing.

In the worst conditions swelling can occur and this can result is another infection developing. And in some cases the only option that may be able is to remove the fungus infected nail and to allow a new healthy nail to grow again.

The fungus that affects the toes loves warm and moist areas in which to breed so you need to make sure that you are changing your socks on a regular basis and that you are cleaning your shoes often also to help kill off any bacteria.

It has been generally seen that the fungus can really affect anyone and can be caused as something as incorrect cutting of the tail to a slight injury.

Some people tend to feel a little embarrassed about such a condition and wearing something as simple as sandals will be avoided, but there are ways to treat such conditions.

There are some treatments that you can have such as anti fungus powders as well as wearing cotton socks.

A medical expert is what you need to say in order to get the best advice and options that are available to you. They will also be able to take a sample of the nail for analysis and to perform some further tests and get a better idea of the type of infection that you have.

And once this is done they can then help you on a course of action.

Some options that may be suggested could be to have your nail trimmed by a nail grinder or may be to even have surgery.
