There
is one main type of male baldness, called pattern. It
goes by this name because of the regular pattern in
which it advances across the scalp, starting at the
temples and working back in an arch. Thousands of men
are affected by pattern baldness, and unfortunately
there is currently no effective cure for the condition.
There are, however, a few alternatives for balding men
who are not of the normal pattern balding type.
Pattern baldness is caused by a chemical called DHT
which makes the hair follicles grow thinner and thinner
until eventually the hair cannot continue and dies.
Treatments to control this chemical have not been
successful on a large scale, however there are several
options available to men who feel the need to replace
the hair. Aside from wigs, which can be ill fitting
and slightly obvious, a popular option is a hair replacement
technique that involves taking hair from another part
of the head (probably the back of the head where it
will not be missed) and plugging it into the empty
follicles.
If you do not suffer from pattern baldness, yet are
experiencing patchy hair loss, the chances are that
it is related to a health problem and can be stopped.
The most likely causes of non pattern baldness are
anaemia, under active thyroid, fungal infection, stress
and some prescription medicines. The important thing
is to pinpoint the health issue and treat it. Baldness
in these cases is merely a symptom of a larger problem,
and so it is necessary for you to consult a doctor
and sort the issue out before it becomes worse or
starts to drag down your general health.
If the problem is anaemia, then your baldness is
caused by an iron deficiency. Try taking supplements
or eating foods with a higher iron content. Meat will
have the highest iron content of all, however if you
are one of the growing population of vegetarians out
there, you can find decent percentages of iron in
green leafy vegetables, or eggs. Put some thought
into your diet and take a good honest look at the
sorts of foods you usually eat. There is a good chance
that, even if anaemia is not the cause of your baldness,
you can find a reason inherit in your diet. Are you
eating enough fruits and vegetables? Taking too many
trips to the fast food joint? Many men succumb to
poor diets, especially when they lead busy lives,
but that should not stop you from sorting it out and
leading a healthy lifestyle.
It is true that many men are willing to overlook
the ins and outs of their health for the sake of what
they perceive to be an easier lifestyle, but this
sort of thinking will catch up with you! You need
to focus on your body, fitness and diet so that you
can look forward to a long and happy life for you
and your family. Non pattern baldness is just the
way that nature has of warning you that enough is
enough. And baldness is only the first step in ailing
health! Unless you want your heart to be next, it
is time to seriously crack down on your unhealthy
lifestyle and make some difficult choices. Bring in
whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables, and cut
out unhealthy fats, excess sugars and processed foods.
It will be worth it in the long run, and if you are
not impressed, just think of your hairline! |
