How To Prevent Melasma |
| by Louise Forrest |
| |
This
is a condition that generally affects more women that
it does men. It is found quite often in women who are
expecting. It is not a threatening condition, but even
so it is a condition that will cause frustration more
than anything else.
This condition mainly appears on the face, and it
can affect anyone but more so it affects people who
are dark skinned.
It is generally considered that changes in hormones
are responsible for this condition appearing and this
is why it is seen a lot in women who are pregnant.
But it is not just women who are pregnant who may
suffer. Also women who are taking the pill can be
prone to getting Melasma.
So can you stop it from happening?
No is the short answer, but there are some simple
actions that you can take that will reduce the chances
of you getting Melasma.
The because action that you can take is to limit the
amount of exposure to the sun, and you should always
make sure that you are wearing a good sun cream or even
a sun block. But this does not guarantee that you will
not guarantee that you will get Melasma.
Once you have Melasma the only thing that you
can do is to treat it.
In many cases, the options for treating Melasma involve
using some product, generally a cream, which is really
a bleaching agent for the skin. You should medical
advice should you suspect that you Melasma as it is
much easier to treat and cure, when detected early
as when compared to if it has been around for a long
time.
But given that Melasma is a result of hormone changes,
stopping the pill will often have a dramatic effect
or even just changing the birth control pill that
is being taken. But if it does develop it can still
take some time to fully clear up.
You may also want to consider using something called
a chemical peel but this as well as being expensive
does hurt. If you have dark skin, then chemical peels
are something that you should not even consider as
it can irritate the condition even further.
It is possible to prevent Melasma but these are not
guaranteed. It is best to treat it as quickly as possible
and you should always seek medical advice to ensure
that you do have Melasma and not something else. |
