Do you compare your face to others and feel like you are lacking in the makeup department?
by Louise Forrest

Many are the time that we look at beautiful women and long to look like them - then we see them without their makeup . . . what a shock! Ever wonder how they can create such a total change in their looks? Ever wonder if they have a hidden makeup team that gets them ready in the mornings? The fact is that, with a little practice, you can do the same thing. These women have just learned to work with the makeup that is offered and have learned the makeup tips that you are about to be privy to. With these tips, you can look like a million dollars!

Makeup Tip #1: The first thing you need to do is start with a clean state. Cleanse you face with a mild, organic cleanser and apply an organic moisturizer with an SPF factor of at least 15. By using moisturizers with sunscreen, you protect your skin from accelerated aging through sun-damage and the moisturizer creates a nice smooth surface for you makeup to look its best.

Makeup Tip #2: Conceal those dark circles under your eyes and any hyperpigmentation (darker spots on your skin) you may have. To do this, get a very light powdered concealer. Even white eye shadow will work. Use a very soft makeup brush to apply several layers of this light concealer and layer until the dark is mostly hidden.

You will look funny at this point; don't worry about it because it will be hidden when you cover it with your foundation, as will your dark circles and spots. In addition to using the powder concealer, very dark circles can be helped by using a liquid concealer that is about one shade lighter than your foundation; apply this over the powder.

Makeup Tip #3: Buy a foundation that truly matches your skin. This is one of the most important things that you can do. Using the wrong color of foundation is the biggest and worst mistake that many women make. For this one product, I recommend that you visit a cosmetics counter to get a perfect match. Trying to match foundation in a department store under florescent lights is a big 'no no.' Remember, when you buy your foundation, it is wise to go ahead and get a concealer that is a shade lighter for those days that the circles under your eyes are extra dark.

Makeup Tip #4: When you apply your foundation, make sure you blend it well. Make sure it goes up into your hairline and that you have no line of demarcation along the jaw. Some people say to apply foundation to your neck as well . . . if you went and purchased professionally matched foundation, this is not going to be necessary.

Makeup Tip #5: Always apply loose powder. Your powder should have a tint to it that goes well with your skin. The tint keeps the powder from giving your face that 'washed out' look. By using tinted loose powder, you keep a healthy glow.

Makeup Tip #6: Blush should enhance the face, not stand out. Choose a shade of blush that corresponds to your skin tone and apply it with a large, soft brush in light layers. This blush needs to be a good quality brush; you will only need to buy it once, so buy a good one.

Makeup Tips #7: When applying eye shadow, do the same as blush. Apply it with a very soft application brush and apply in layers. It's very easy to darken an area that is too light, but rubbing off dark areas doesn't look right now matter how hard you try.

Makeup Tip #8: Spend the extra time to do those lips right. Remember that smiles are one of the most remembered things about a person. Always use lip liner that is about 2 shades darker than your lipstick and line carefully. Choose a lip color that goes well with your skin tone and apply it right up to your lip liner, barely covering the liner.

As a cosmetologist specializing in makeup and makeovers, I have more tips than you can imagine. I will leave you to purchase what you need for these and get them down pat . . . and I'll be back with more, later. Until then, enjoy your new, more glamorous look!
