Beauty Tips Index => Hyperpigmentation |
| Treating Liver Spots |
| by Louise Forrest |
| |
Another
form of hyperpigmentation that is caused be excessive
exposure to the sun are Liver Spots, and are sometimes
known as age spots as they can take a long time to develop.
In most of the cases, they are very common the hands
and sometimes the face too.
So if you do have liver spots or age spots, just
how do you get rid of them? There is no guarantee
that you can get rid of them but there are various
treatments that are available that will certainly
help to reduce their appearance.
More often than not these liver spots are found in
people who have older skin, and for that reason people
believe that they are found due to a persons age.
This is not true and they develop due to a result
of sun exposure.
It is very common to find these liver spots on the
hands and face but they do also appear on the back
and chest also.
When the skin is trying to protect itself from the
sun that is when these spots tend to develop. It is
the melanin that causes a different colour in the
skin from developing.
If you are suffering from bad health then that too
can be a cause for liver spots to develop. One of
the other reasons why liver spots are associated with
old people is that they really can take many years
for them to actually develop.
Liver spots do no harm in any way, but they could
potentially be a sign of the development of cancer.
And what you need to be looking for is any changes
with the actual liver spots themselves. Such as colour
changes or size changes. You should also go to see
your doctor quickly.
There are some treatments that can reduce their appearance
and one treatment is known as Super Strength Lightener.
This product has an active ingredient called Kojic
Acid which essentially does no more than lighten the
skin.
You can also look at using natural remedies and one
that is often used is buttermilk, as the lactic acid
that is contains does help to benefit the skin when
you rub it on. You can also try to use castor oil,
but you need to be applying this twice a day and it
will take 4 weeks or so before you see any difference.
One other natural ingredient that you may want to
consider is the use of dandelions. Just open the stem
and rub the sap from the stem on to your skin. Doing
this just a few times a day will make a difference
which you can expect to see after a month or so. |
