How to Combat Oily Skin
by Louise Forrest

Jokes circulate that oiliness is next to ugliness. Indeed, it is true because not too many people find such skin condition very tolerable. Dermatologists assert that there is nothing wrong with it. In fact, for most people, it is normal to develop oily skin. The problem only arises when there is excessive oil and the skin appearance becomes less attractive and messy.

Oily skin is a condition when there is over production of skin by the sebaceous glands, a special oil and nutrient secreting glands underneath the skin layer. Sebaceous gland's oil production is the one cited for oily skin problems.

You should be reminded though that oily skin brings about a few advantages. For one, it has been found that oiliness in skin helps slow down formation of wrinkles and linings in the skin due to aging. Oiliness is also identified to produce unlikely skin discoloration. Some experts assert that oil in skin helps moisturize the skin regularly, making it smoother to the touch and more rejuvenated in appearance.

However, excessive production of oiliness leads to frequent breakouts, a messy and greasy appearance and formation of very large and significant pores, which make accumulation of dirt and contaminants rampant and notorious, which may cause further skin problems like acne. Thus, there is a need to observe some procedures on how to take care and treat oily skin. Here are some of those.

-
Observe proper hygiene. Be particular about cleanliness and overall health of the skin. Cleanse the skin with clean water and soap. There are many skin cleansing products out in the market that can also be appropriately used to bring about fairer and clearer skin.
-
Bathe or shower in tepid instead of steaming-hot water. There is a misconception that bathing in hot water helps cleanse the skin more thoroughly. It is wrong. That is because how water usually deprives the skin of its much needed moisture. On the other hand, cold water is also not available for bathing because it shocks the skin.
-
Fatty foods indeed can trigger excessive oiliness of the skin. That is because heat and hormones are affected by consumption of several foods, which in turn could lead to the problem.
-
When using moisturizers, choose those that are noncomedogenic. These skin care products are oil-free and help de-clog the skin's pores, preventing the onset of several other severe skin problems like acne.
-
The doctor may prescribe retinoids, types of drugs that help cut off production of oil in glands. However, prescription is needed prior to buying such products for your own safety.
-

These include Lemongrass Face Wash, Lemongrass Toner, Lemongrass Night Gel, Lemongrass Face Musk, watercress and strawberry cleanser, watercress daytime moisturizer, spearmint exfoliating lotion, active spot serum and anti-spot kit.

If there are severe and very frequent occurrence of breakouts amid oily skin, be cautioned. Such skin condition may already be early signs of a skin problem that usually comes due to oily skin—acne.
