Annoying Foot Problems
by Louise Forrest

To avoid from danger, foot care should be taken properly. Your feet are built to take a lot of pressure every day and it is a good thing they are. When you walk or stand your weight is placed on your foot. If you run or play your weight falls on each foot whenever it hits the ground.

Foot problems are annoying and painful, but not life threatening. The most frequent foot problems include blisters, bunions, corns, and ingrown toenails. At times, however, untreated foot problems can have life altering consequences, especially for the people who suffer with diabetes. Few people with diabetes will develop a foot ulcer, and few people are suffering with diabetes have a lower limb amputated because of foot complications.

But there is also good news when it comes to feet. For beginners, you can keep away many foot problems by choosing comfortable, well fitting shoes. In early stage try to treat your foot problems, then they are most effectively treated. New medications are provided for effective treatment to reduce the time to heal. Surgical methods have improved to the point where most foot operations are now done on an outpatient basis.

Daily bathing and washing your feet and regular trimming of toenails promotes cleanliness, prevents infection, stimulates peripheral circulation, and controls odor by removing debris from between toes and under toenails. Use mild, domestic soap and rinse the feet well after washing. Do not soak feet for too long, this make them drier. If the skin is dry, rub in some moisturizing cream like hand cream, peanut oil, olive oil, coco butter are all good into dry areas, but not between the toes. If feet are moist and sweaty, apply surgical spirit to them twice daily, including area between toes. Avoid walking barefoot. Apart from simple first aid to injuries, do not try to treat foot problems yourself. It is particularly important for bedridden patients and those especially susceptible to foot infection. Increased weakness may be caused by peripheral vascular disease, diabetes mellitus, poor nutritional status, arthritis, or any condition that impairs peripheral circulation. In such patients, proper foot skin care products should include meticulous cleanliness and regular observation for signs of skin breakdown.

Foot care advice should be given individually and reinforced as and when appropriate and at least annually.

While you are cleaning the feet keep an eye on your feet and nails. Suppose if any danger signs occur on foot like redness, swelling, pain and breaks in the skin, immediately take help via your diabetic foot service, which will have made clear the procedure for obtaining urgent help.

Check feet regularly for unusual lumps, bumps, splits, cracks, athlete’s foot, and rashes take help as above.

Remember

If you neglect a lump it can cause ulceration, that if your foot changes shape or becomes infected you need help. Check shoes daily for penetrating nails or sharp objects. If you have difficulty getting down to your feet, you can use a mirror to see the soles.
