What Is Atopic Dermatitis? |
| by Louise Forrest |
| |
AD or
Atopic Dermatitis is normally seen with skin that is
inflamed, scratching and can affect the face, elbows
and also the knees, and the whole body can also be affected
too.
It is generally seen in people who have other forms
of allergies and it should be noted that AD is not
in anyway contagious. If a child develops AD then
there is a strong likelihood that one of the parents
also suffers from AD. But there is no one certain
race or gender that seems to be affected the most
AD is eczema but it is eczema at a very severe level.
Like eczema AD is started by triggers and these can
be from allergies to even pollution in the air. Any
triggers should be observed and where possible the
triggers needs to be eliminated in order to reduce
the severity of the AD.
In a lot of cases, where the skin has come into contact
with an irritant then these are usually man made products
that can be found in many household and beauty products.
The weather also has it part to play in the development
of AD and so you need to be avoiding severe cold weathers
and making sure that you are well protected during
the hot summer months. Be aware of excess sweating
and make sure that you wash off any excess sweat.
Do not any deodorant spray as the man made ingredients
in the aerosol could cause further triggers within
the skin.
As well as the weather and sweating you need to be
aware of the liquids that you are consuming. Essentially
you need to be making sure that you are consuming
no less than 8 glasses of water per day. Water is
essential for the body to survive and in the removal
of toxins. |
