Oatmeal as a Home Remedy to Treat Eczema
by Louise Forrest

It is sometimes amazing to note that some of the most effective and practical home treatment for our skin and other ailments can be found right in the convenience of the kitchen. Eczema is one of the most usual skin problems that haunt a growing number of people. Through the years, people have been searching where to find the best and most effective treatment for the condition. While it is certain that there are modern and medical treatments, the overall costs would be too significant and may not be too practical or affordable. Thus, home remedies are often welcomed positively.

Oatmeal may be the favorite breakfast staple of you and your kids. Through the years, the popularity of cereals as breakfast has been unprecedented and unmeasured. But sales figures and actual interviews with parents would indicate that cereals and oatmeals are now among the most usual and most favorite meals before kids go to school every morning. Oatmeal has also been found to help reduce weight significantly. Aside from that, oatmeal is also noted to be cholesterol-free, making it an ideal staple food especially for people with history of heart ailments.

Now, oatmeal has another use. And that is as an effective ingredient to home and improvised anti-eczema and skin care regimens. It has been found that oatmeal is effective in moisturizing the skin and treating eczema without much effort. There are three uses of oatmeal as a home remedy against eczema.

1.
To soothe and relieve eczema flare, mix oatmeal with honey. The mixture should be blended together equally and applied to the skin to help take care of the overall well being of the skin. Oatmeal has an effective cleansing and soothing effect to the skin, while the honey boasts of its antimicrobial effect. After applying the mixture, keep it there for at least half an hour. You can do other chores or simply sit back and relax while doing this. After at least 30 minutes, wash of the mixture form the skin using lukewarm water.
2.
Oatmeal baths are naturally good as treatment for eczema. To do this, grind the oatmeal very finely until a powder-like substance is made. Mix the powder with tub filled with water. Soak your body or the eczema-affected skin part for around 15 minutes. You would notice that the itching would be effectively relieved.
3.
Mix oatmeal with egg whites to create a thick and very rich exfoliating masque. Apply the thick mixture to the skin particularly to the face and to the affected part of eczema. Let the mixture dry in the skin before washing it off. Notice how the procedure soothes the skin and make it smoother and softer to the touch.

Thus, you would find that after consuming the oatmeal as a breakfast staple, you could use the remaining oatmeal as your skincare and eczema treatment regimen. See, you may be surprised at how your kitchen can be a good source of home treatment ingredients.
