Controlling Your Flare-Ups
by Louise Forrest

Your doctor or dermatologist will give you detailed instructions of the steps that you need to take in order to significantly reduce the pain caused by flare-ups. You may need to alter the medications that you currently use as well as altering your lifestyle. This should not be thought of as a challenge but rather than a compromise as even the smallest changes can often generate the biggest returns.

It is a good idea that you keep with any modification at the same time as such steps may be able to keep any flare-ups totally at bay

Given that you have dry skin and the body is producing too many skin cells at once, your skin is not able to hydrate itself properly. In this case you need to be ensuring that you are moisturizing your skin on a constant and regular basis. You should also ensure that any products you use are alcohol free as this has a tendency to dry the skin even further

Using non-chemical based products on the skin is also a crucial step as quite often any chemical based ingredients could create an allergy which in turn could create a flare up. Try your best to seek products that are natural and organic based only.

The same also applies to household products such as soaps, washing up liquid and even washing powder. Try to make sure that you are either wearing gloves are you are using much milder products that are gentler on your skin

If you exercise then you are likely to sweat and this should be cleaned off the skin as soon as possible. This is because even sweat for some people can actually be an irritant to the skin

You should also take care of your skin when the temperature changes during the seasons. In the winter you should try to avoid wearing clothing that is made from wool as this can often be itchy to the skin and during the summer you should try to keep your skin as cool and well moisturized as much as possible
