Relief for Eczema Sufferers Amid Winter Months
by Louise Forrest

Eczema sufferers have been constantly searching for relief regimen for their skin condition. The discomfort, itch and annoying feeling of having contracted the skin problem is mostly bogging people during the cold winter months. That is because when the air is cold, it tends to be drier. What’s more, the heat that is usually produced by radiators and heating furnaces at homes and offices are further contributing to the skin problem. Thus, eczema sufferers would almost always observe irritation, splitting and cracking of their skin especially in the eczema-affected portion during winter.

Many eczema sufferers complain about the disturbance and annoyance provided by their skin condition especially during Christmas time, when winter is at its onset. During this time, people are usually busy wrapping gifts, preparing meals and attending family functions and gatherings. Imagine how a mess it could be if you are feeling itchy and irritable all these time. That is the reason there is a clear demand for a really good and effective eczema relief measure and products.

Many eczema treatments have been circulating in the market for quite some time now. In fact, eczema patients would not have a hard time finding and buying those relief products. However, those goods are not always effective. Further, the effectiveness and potency of most of them vary as seasons change. Most eczema treatments that are widely available in the market are proven not to work as well during the cold and very uncomfortable winter months. Eczema sufferers should still not fret. There are still effective ways and products to provide them relief at the onset of winter season

The most practical way to handle and attain relief for eczema attacks during winter is to wear clothing that would protect the body from the weather. Sweaters and jackets are good. In the hands, gloves are advisable. However, when buying these gears, make sure to choose those that would surely not add to skin irritation. Choose clothing and gloves that have silk linings within. Silk is soft and sleek, making it more comfortable to the skin. Its fine weave makes it not sticky to the skin, keeping it remarkably warm at the same time. Silk also absorbs perspiration faster and it also dries up more quickly. Luckily, silk is not expensive and can be cheaply bought in the market these days. More sweaters, gloves and other winter apparel are also coming with silk underlings for maximum and added comfort.

For added comfort during winter months, bathe using water mixed with oatmeal and honey. Doing so would help control the flare from eczema. If you want, you can alternatively apply a masque made up of a mixture of oatmeal, honey and meringued egg white on the affected skin area. The activity helps clean and at the same time soften the skin while giving effective relief from much itching and occasional pain.

After bath, every morning or before going to bed, it would be advisable if you would put on a shielding lotion, which will effectively bind natural moisture and your skin. Shielding lotions provide a protective layer in the outer skin surface, keeping it comfortable and away from chemicals and impurities that lead to dryness and irritability during winter.

Eczema can be effectively relieved if you would only be patient and resourceful during winter. Now, there is no reason to worry about itching and flaring of eczema amid the Christmas holiday season.
