Do You Get These Problems? |
| by Louise Forrest |

Usually
eczema affects the arms, legs, chest, back, scalp and
also the face. But as well as these there are other
areas of the body that can also become infected. You
should be aware of what these other problems are and
if you do develop them then you must see your doctor
without delay.
Problems with the eye where the sufferer will experience
a high level of burning sensation and this can lead
to eye loss.
In some cases the skin can be covered by many lesions
and this is known as exfoliative dermatitis. It can
be fatal.
Should a person be suffering from hands that are
very dry and often chapped is referred to as hand
dermatitis. This is often much worse in the winter
due to the cold winds.
There is also a possibility of actual skin infections
and this can lead to the skin becoming cracked and
pus filled lesions can also develop.
If you make contact via cold sores this is often
known as eczema herpeticum and this can be very dangerous
and can lead to loss of life.
In the event of a person having exfoliative dermatitis
or hand dermatitis the normal treatment is done through
creams and these are often steroid based. Such creams
are normally quite effective and a month is often
enough to see results. However if no results are seen
then generally another treatment known as phototherapy
can also be tried.
Should phototherapy be used, here UV rays are directed
on to the affected areas of the skin. If there is
still no results using this technique then other medications
may also need to be considered and this can be taken
into the body via tablet form or the most common method
is in the form of an injection.
You should consult your doctor before hand, as such
steroid based treatments can have their side effects. |
