Now What Can Be Making Your Skin Dry?
by Louise Forrest

In the modern high-tech world where beauty and make-up concentrations are high, one will indulge themselves at home and rejuvenate their skin. A hectic lifestyle, erratic eating habits and the pressure of the works, all take a toll of their skin. In addition, the climate will also play a major role in affecting your normal skin. In winter, you will see your skin dehydrated and dull. During the cold weather the skin tends to lose its moisture, this will make the skin life less and this state of skin is called the dry skin.

Technically, this problem is known as xerosis. So, you will go in search of all the means to quench the thirst of your skin. Your attention will be high to take care and avoid scaly and dry skin. In all these seasons, dryness and irritated skin are two things; most people will suffer from, at one time or another. The way you cleanse your face/body will also add to this problem. If neglected, one may end up having awful allergies and rashes. You should not forget that our skin is the mirror of our internal organs; because it covers the 99% of our body including protection for us from the injury and invasion of microbes.

Retention of moisture is the basic thing; one has to fight for this problem. This is essential for staying smooth and lithesome. As we grow old, we have to take extra care for this retention of moisture since it will be difficult. Central heating of your home and other of your residential areas will help to protect your skin getting dried.

You may not aware that your daily routines such as bathing and towel drying will remove moisture from your skin. They remove your skin's oily lipid layer and in the long run causes more moisture loss than gain. Hence, during winter seasons, modify your bathing routine and preserve your skin’s moisture. While going for chemotherapy way, do not go for wrong moisturizing lotions. Always choose water based lotions. Plenty are available in the market such as Lubriderm, Keri lotion & others. Also, oil-based creams are more effective in trapping moisture. Keep this in mind while going in for shopping.

Remember the following for a right bathing, to avoid your dry skin formation. Always select lukewarm water while taking bath. Hot water generally will dry out the skin. Timing plays a major role while you take bath. Limit yourself to fifteen minutes or less while taking bath or shower. So, in winter season, avoid taking bath more than once. Non-adherence of this and negligence will lead to the removal of the natural oils from the skin causing dryness. While selecting your soaps for bathing, also has to be very careful. Avoid selecting harsh soaps that dry your skin including deodorant soaps. Many skin moistening soaps are available in the market such as Dove, Olay and other. Using organic skin care products such as Cetaphil Lotion, Oilatum-AD and Aquanil are better. Vigorous use of a washcloth in cleansing is also not advisable. When drying your skin with towel, do not rub the skin. Later, use a moisturizer to your skin.
