Finding the Natural Cure for Dry Skin
by Louise Forrest

For the vast majority of people out there, dry skin is a nuisance. We go to the supermarket or the drug store and we buy whatever moisturizer is on sale without even looking at what the active ingredient is and just apply it whenever our hands or face feels dry. But there is a better way to approach the problem and you can be sure that the results will be better, too. You can take an all-natural approach to dry skin and not only will you save money, you can rest easy knowing that you are not putting any strange chemicals into your body, either.

First off, let us take a look at why dry skin happens more for most people in the winter time then it does during the summer. It actually is not the cold temperatures outside that cause the dry skin, it is the low humidity.

The lack of humidity in the air, combined with the drastic temperature changes that we expose our skin to going from the cold outside to the warmth inside, causes moisture on our skin to evaporate and dryness, cracks and in extreme cases, bleeding to occur. The natural oils that the skin produces do not stay on the skin long enough for the skin to be properly lubricated so dry skin is the result.

Now that we know what we are fighting against, what are some of the best all-natural cures for dry skin? Two of the most popular solutions are the use of bath oils and moisturizers. Bath oils are 100 percent natural extracts taken from herbs, plants and many other natural things. You simply add a few drops of these oils to every bath you take, and your skin will come out feeling soft, sleek and moisturized.

When it comes to picking the right moisturizer, the best thing to do is to make them at home. Many of the base elements in skin moisturizers are available to buy in bulk or at a natural health care store or over the Internet. You can then take the natural creams and add in your own ingredients to make them even better for your skin. The same natural bath oils that you used earlier can be added to basic creams to make skin care products your body will love.

Cosmetics can also be a major source of dry skin for most women. The best solution is to simply stop wearing make up, but for most women, this is not a viable option. There are a few all-natural options out there when it comes to make up, but it is impossible to tell if they will make your dry skin worse or better. A happy medium is to try to wear as little makeup as possible if you can and use all natural moisturizers at night to make up for it.

An all natural solution that many people do not think of is adding some fresh produce to their diet. Freshly made carrot juice, for instance, is light on sugar which can negatively affect your skin, and it high in vitamins and minerals and is excellent for your skin, and your eyes.

You also need to hydrate yourself. Your skin can not get enough moisture if you do not ingest enough moisture. Dry to drink up to a quart of water per day, but most people either can not or will not drink that much in a day. Stay away from sugary sodas or other sugar-based drinks.

Solving the dry skin puzzle the all natural way can be a bit of a chore. But taking the extra time to buy the products that will treat your body right is worth it.
