Should You Exfoliate Dry Skin?
by Louise Forrest

It is certainly hard work from preventing your skin from becoming dry. Tough conditions from the elements of the weather can present many challenges.

One of the steps that you often hear about is exfoliating the skin in order to remove dead skin cells and to keep the skin looking young and fresh. But is this such a good idea when it comes to dry skin? It does sound like perfect sense especially if you have skin that is dull and flaky.

The above way of thinking is partially correct, you real goal is to get rid of the dead skin cells from the top surface of the skin.

So exfoliating dry skin is a good idea as it will help to get rid of dead skin cells and will show the healthy skin that is underneath.

But what you need to be careful about is that you do not over exfoliate the skin as too much can lead to drier skin and this is not what we want to achieve.

Once you have decided that you are going to exfoliate you need to find a product that will suit you and one that is preferably organic based will be best as this will be free of any harsh chemicals and alcohol.

Exfoliating your skin no more than once a fortnight is a good recommendation and when you do exfoliate you should be as gentle as possible and not to be too harsh on the skin.

When you have found a product that you are comfortable with you then need to prepare your skin.

1.
make sure your skin is wet
2.
add your exfoliating lotion to your hands
3.
begin exfoliating using small circular movements and being very gentle on the skin
4.
make sure that you rinse well and always pat dry the skin with a soft clean towel
5.
follow up with an organic moisturizer for dry skin

Follow this routine every two weeks or so and you will see that the difference in your skin in no time at all.
