Skin act as a thermostat and due to pores in it, it helps the body to maintain temperature which in turn helps organs to work at optimum levels. In hot conditions, these pores expand and in cold environment, they shrink. Pores act as first layer of defense and help in protecting our body from any damage. Thus, skin is important part of body and you need to take care of it.

If you have dry skin, the best remedy is to take lot of fluids. Make drinking around eight to ten glasses of water daily your habit. It can be easily done in summer season as our body loses more water in summers than compared to winters. But in winter seasons, you need to keep a check for this habit. It is not necessary that you should drink cold water in winters, but can take lukewarm water.

Our way of bathing can also help in reducing the problem of dry skin. How do we normally take a bath? In a moment of rush and running through bathroom to our room as we are getting late. Right? Try this way now. Five minutes will not let the heavens to come down. Make it a habit of taking bath with tepid water in both summers as well as winter. Now you must be wondering about the reasons. Thus it will help you to overcome part of your problem of dry skin.

If feasible, let your body relax in a bathtub once or twice a week. This will help your skin to retain moisture as it will be in contact with water for a longer duration. If this is not possible and you are confronting dry skin problem, then just take a bucket of water and put your legs in it. Though it might sound unusual to you but believe it, this works. If you have dry skin then you need to careful with the type of soaps which you use. Use those soaps only which have low detergent and higher amount of moisturizers in it. Allow the moisturizer to be absorbed.

Don’t drink alcohol or wine in large quantities. Though alcohol drinking should not be a problem if you have dry skin, it gives one more reason not to drink it as alcohol and wines are de-hydrators and can aggravate your problem of dry skin.

If you are a tea or coffee addict, change your habit. Don’t drink coffee/ tea more than twice each day. Though all these are preventive measures, yet the best way still best way is drinking a lot of water so that you skin gets more natural moisture regularly.
