Taking Care and Treating Dry Hair During Summer
by Louise Forrest

Dry hair is a common problem among people. Some simply ignore the problem, while the beauty conscious ones regard dry hair as a major concern. As seasons change, you would notice that the quality of hair also changes. Most of the time, summer is a problematic season for hair conscious people. That is because it is logically inferred and observed that during this hot season, the occurrence of dry hair is also more frequent
.
During summer, experts advise people to pay more particular attention to hairstyles. Did you know that wearing your hair short is one way of retaining and improving the moisture content of the hair? Thus, during the unusually dry and hot climates on summers, it would be helpful if your hair would be short, For one, you would feel a little comfortable and second, because during the season, there are numerous physical activities, that would call for less time for styling. For people on the go, short hairstyles could be very ideal.

The sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays is identified as one of the damaging factors that result to dry hair. Direct sunlight damages the hair’s cuticles, a condition that is usually indicated by frizzy and brittle hair and the formation of split ends. Naturally, it is estimated that the normal hair’s moisture content is at about 10%. During summer, this content estimate further declines, posing greater risks to the health of the hair.

Using hot blow dryer to dry the hair after taking a bath or shower or during styling is also damaging. Hair experts would assert that exposing the hair to excessive heat from dryers would crack open cuticles of the hair, which would noticeably lead to the problem of dry hair.

To help the hair retain its natural moisture content, it would be advisable if proper and recommended hair products would be used. Choose and buy shampoos that would greatly help maintain health and nutrients in the hair. It would also help if you would rinse specific anti-drying conditioners to the hair after shampooing. It is noted that hair conditioners greatly help add and maintain moisture to hair, making it totally shinier.

When spending time to get a tan at the beach, be sure to wear hat or other hair gears to keep the hair away from direct exposure to the damaging sunlight. Just as sun block protection is necessary to be applied to the skin, hats and protective gears are also equally necessary to make sure the hair would remain healthy and free from the risks brought about by sunrays.

During summer, it would be advisable if you would watch your diet. Stick to nutritious and healthy meals and drink lots of water and fruit juices. Take note that the body’s overall water content greatly affects the health of the hair and skin. By properly replenishing the body’s water content, you would be able to maintain the overall health of the skin and hair. Aside from that, drinking water and fruit juices is a sure way of refreshment during very hot and uncomfortably scourging summer days.
