Diet And Skin
by Louise Forrest

There is a very common saying and that saying is You Are What You Eat. But so many people just do not realise that the foods that they not only affects the way they look, but also how they feel emotionally on a day to day basis.

Times have changed. Once it was a case of cooking a meal from scratch. Fast food did not exist and neither did ready made meals. As a result of the cheap foods that have become available and the easily available take-away foods, our skin has become much worse over the years.

Whilst all this time saving is appreciated, and yes it is easy to buy a take-away or get a ready made meal, people are not fully aware of the harm such foods are doing to their health and therefore to their skin.

The tongue is always one to suffer if a person’s diet is lacking essential vitamins and nutrients. The more junk food that a person eats, which are full of artificial flavours, then the tongue is becoming numb. So if you are eating lots of junk food just is it doing to your body and your skin?

Any diet that is not full of water and fresh fruit and vegetables is just a cocktail for a disaster. Not just from your skin’s point of view but also for health reasons also. Many fruit and vegetables contain many natural anti-oxidants that help to fight the causes of premature ageing to the skin. And if you are not keeping your body hydrated by drinking lots of water, then your skin could dry and then you have the possible problem of developing skin conditions such as eczema.

Sticking to a diet that is healthy is not difficult. With some simple steps you can look younger and healthier for longer and you will be doing it the natural way rather than buying lots of expensive creams and lotions.

Fatty acids – these are found in oily fish such tuna and these acids are very good for the skin and overall health also.

Vitamins – your skin and your body needs vitamins. Make sure that you are getting a good source of vitamins from products such as fruit and nuts.
Water – this goes without saying. The body can last up to 6 weeks without food. The body can last no more than 6 days without water. That just shows the importance of water for your health and of course your life.

You should be getting about 8 glasses of water a day, but this will depend on just how active you are during the day. If you are very active, then 8 glasses will not be enough, you will need more water to replace any lost water through breathing and sweating.

As you can see a healthy diet is vital if you want your skin and body to be healthy and to look young.
