Treat Dandruff Naturally
by Louise Forrest

If you are reading this article then you are looking for a way that will help you to treat your dandruff naturally. Dandruff as well as being embarrassing can cause a lot of scratching of the scalp.

Having dandruff is associated with dryness and a very itchy scalp. But what you may not actually realise is that dandruff is a result of too much oil that is produced. Generally there are various forms of dandruff such as Seborrheic Dermatitis and there is also psoriasis of the scalp. Dandruff can happen to anyone and at any age, and it should be treated otherwise it can get worse.

There multiples of products that are available for the treatment of dandruff but not all treatments are suitable for everyone. What will work for someone may not always work for somebody else. So you may need to experiment. The best options that you may want to consider are the options that are not likely to irritate your scalp and will help to restore its own natural essential oils.

Here are some natural alternatives that are available for treating dandruff:

Ayurveda – this involves massaging the scalp and has the added benefit of being very relaxing. One of the suggested theories as to what can cause dandruff is poor circulation. A good oil used for massaging the oil is sesame oil and this should be used to massage the scalp for say 5 minutes, one a regular basis. You can either shower straight away or leave overnight and wash again in the morning.

Fenugreek is a herb that is also used to help in the treatment of dandruff.

Aromatherapy – using a few drops of rosemary and lemon essential oil can help with dandruff. Just put some on the palm of your hands and then massage thoroughly into the scalp.

Homeopathy – if you have thick dandruff and have a lot of scratching that takes places, then homeopathy could be for you. Use some sulphur as this will help to soothe the scalp and treat any moist and sensitive areas of the skin.

Mineral Therapy and Minerals – you can also eat your way to the process of getting rid of dandruff. An example of this is by adding something as simple as flaxseed oil, where just a tablespoon a day added to potatoes for instance could really help with any dandruff that you may have. You can get tablets also, if you do not like to consume oil. But it is suggested that 1 teaspoon of the oil is equal to 3 tablets. So you can clearly see the power of the oil when taken neat. Flaxseed oil can be found in many stores and also on the Internet.

You should not let dandruff ruin your life and be confident that with the right treatments dandruff can be treated effectively and also cured. There are cases where it can get very bad, and here you will need to seek medical advice from your doctor on what options that you should consider. Your doctor will be able to provide a correct diagnosis and suggest the best treatment options that are available.
