Can Men Develop Cellulite?
by Louise Forrest

Mostly when you think of you cellulite you think of women suffering from it. It is always in the celebrity and women magazines about the condition and how best to get rid of it. But what about men? Do they suffer from it or is just women?

To be quite blunt it is very uncommon for a man to suffer from cellulite, but it does happen. The reason why it is rare is because men have thicker skin than that of a woman.

Generally women tend to get cellulite on their upper thighs and stomach also. If a man did get cellulite is would tend to be on the neck and stomach also. With man, fat is stored much further into the skin, so that is another reason why men are able to avoid cellulite.

Cellulite is generally fat underneath the skin that is just changing shape. Whilst the fat is changing shape and this is what gives the dimple like appearance. Most people think that cellulite is a result of being fat, but cellulite can strike a person whether they are fat or not.

But what actually makes cellulite appear is not really certain appear, but a combination of poor diet, excess drinking and smoking can all contribute to the appearance of cellulite.

Hormones can also play a role also, especially during pregnancy. If a person has cellulite prior to pregnancy then it can often become much worse during pregnancy.

So what can actually help with reducing the appearance of cellulite? Whilst there are many theories, one of them is exercise. But, this is not really an answer because you can develop cellulite regardless of what body shape you are. The only thing that you can really do is to stay active and as healthy as you can.

The following are some positive guidelines and what you should do and also what you should try to avoid:

Plenty of water and less caffeine based products – with water you are helping to flush out your system of any toxins and to keep your skin hydrated. On the other caffeine has the exact opposite effect and can actually contribute to the level of toxins within the body

Smoking – this is bad for your health overall, but generally smoking does weaken the skin and the tissues which cause the dimpling effect

Stress – this is very bad for your overall wellbeing and when you are stressed the body can block any necessary waste elimination

Essentially you just need to be as healthy as you can be. Drink plenty of water and just make sure that you are flushing out as many toxins as you can on a daily basis. There are numerous products that are available, and some do provide a great benefit, but you need to be aware of the scams that are out there, that do no more than make you part with your money.
