What Do You Really Know About Cellulite?
by Louise Forrest

There is probably not one person that has not heard of cellulite. You think it is bad. You think you have it because you are fat and you have seen all the magazines talking about celebrities for having cellulite and not taking care of themselves. But what do you really know about it?

In the age where looks are everything having any kind of flaw will not be accepted in society. Cellulite has a lumpy appearance and it appears on the thighs and also the stomach too. Whilst it is common it is not very pleasant to look at and you may not feel like wearing a bathing costume at all.

But if you have cellulite then there is really no need to panic at all. The majority of women get it, even supermodels and no one person is actually immune. Cellulite is no more than fat and this is pushed up by the tissue beneath it. This is what gives it that lumpy appearance or even dimpled look like an orange peel. Hence the name – orange peel.

To know if you do have cellulite just take a pinch of the skin around the upper thigh. If it feels lumpy then you have cellulite. Now cellulite can and does vary from person to person. For some it can be very mild, and there is no real cause of concern. For others it can be very severe and the person is clearly very aware of having it. There are certain factors that affect the severity of cellulite such as genes and total amount of body fat within your body and also the thickness of your skin.

As you would expect, cellulite is a very common problem and as a result that are too many products out there that all claim to offer a cure for cellulite. But many are there just as a gimmick and do no more than make you part with your hard earned money. There is no miracle cure at all and so you need to be careful if a product sounds just too good to be true.

But despite all the gimmicks that are available there are indeed products that are out there that can actually help you to reduce your cellulite. It is just a case of finding the product that is right for you.

One treatment that you should try to avoid is liposuction as this will actually do nothing for you and could even make the appearance of cellulite actually worse. What this method tries to do is to suck out the fat from within the skin. But the result can be a dimpled appearance. So you could end up with skin that is even more dimpled than when you started.

Reducing the appearance of cellulite is not impossible. You just need to know what cellulite wants. Normally the skin around the cellulite is often swollen and sometimes dry so moisturising the skin on a frequent basis will help. And this in turn can reduce the appearance of cellulite.

Generally speaking cellulite is very common and can be treated, but it may not fully go away, but the appearance of it can certainly be significantly reduced.
