What Can Make Your Hair as Beautiful as It Should Be?
by Louise Forrest

Have you ever looked in the magazine and seen a beautiful hairstyle and though "I wish my hair looked like that?" You try for hours when you get home to recreate that look, but all you get is a big, frizzy mess. It is so frustrating and you end up wondering why your hair is so messy and uncontrollable, whilst other girls seem to walk around effortlessly with beautiful, styled hair. Luckily, there are some tips to helping your hair to look beautiful. It is all about finding what is right for you!

The Secret to Beautiful Hair
Everybody's hair is different and so the way that you treat it will be different to how somebody else would treat their hair. Some hair is dry, some is frizzy, some is oily, and some is a combination of all three! So how do you know what will work for you and what will leave your hair uncontrollable? Here are a few tips:

How to Control Oily Hair
Oily hair is caused due to an excessive amount of sebum created by the male hormone, androgen. It is not actually the hair that is the problem, it is the scalp. This means that you should use a mild shampoo, and wash the scalp daily. Harsh shampoos can really strip the essential oils away form the scalp, which can cause itchiness and dandruff. So always wash daily with a mild shampoo and that should keep it at bay.

Another tip is to wash bedding frequently as oil can build up onto the pillows and you could be causing your hair to become dirty straight after washing it.
Tips for Dry Hair
Dry hair is often caused by hairdryers, curling tongs, heat lamps and straighteners. We constantly put our hair through heat hell just to look good. Many people forget that excessive heat can damage the hair and make it dry up and snap off. This means that they rarely use protection whilst drying the hair or straightening it. There are loads of products designed especially to protect the hair whilst styling, so there really is no excuse not to use them!

If you suffer from naturally dry hair, the main thing you can do is to use a conditioner regularly. It is thought that you should only wash your hair around 2-3 times a week if you suffer form dry hair. This is because the water can have a drying effect and can make the problem worse. Using a conditioner helps to keep moisture locked in, and it helps to generally repair the hair if you get a decent brand. Spray in conditioners often helps, although if you spray too much your hair could end up looking oily! So make sure that you spray just enough to keep the hair moist.
Eat Healthy and Exercise Regularly
Your diet and exercise really does play a big part in how healthy your hair looks. Exercise helps to slow down the production of the male hormone 'androgen' which can sometimes cause hair loss. This means that you will suffer less hair loss, and the hair will undoubtedly become healthier.

A healthy diet also really helps and the nutrients travel through to your hair, causing a healthy looking shine and adding extra strength. Overall a healthy diet ensures that the hair grows healthier and regularly.
Take Regular Trips to The Hairdresser
Having the ends trimmed off of your hair every six weeks is a great way to keep your hair looking healthy. The ends are generally what make our hair look dull and they can become split, causing a lot of damage. So having them cut off encourages the hair to grow healthier and you can get rid of any existing split ends you may already have.
Do Not Over Brush
There is an age old saying that brushing 100 times before you go to bed will really help to keep hair looking healthy and happy. However, this simply is not true. Over brushing can break the hair and damage the scalp.

There are lots of things you can do to protect your hair and to keep it looking beautiful. If you are unsure as to what hair type you are, you can always ask the hairdresser and they will be able to tell you. Once you know which hair type you have, you are then more equipped to deal with the problems which may arise!
