For Beautiful Hair |
| Do you have problems with Bubbly
Hair? |
| by Louise Forrest |
| |
People
love to look after their hair and spend a lot of money
on products and hair styling equipment. Your hair can
really help you to become more confident, and people
often make their first impressions by the look of your
hair. This makes it understandably important to look
after the hair as well as possible and to spend that
extra bit of time styling it. |
| |
However,
often the same products which you use to style and make
your hair look good, can often damage the hair and make
it look unhealthy. The most common hair problems occur
when you constantly use heated appliances on them, and
bubble hair is a problem caused by curling tongs. |
| |
| Bubble Hair and Its
Causes |
People,
who use hot heating appliances, especially curling tongs
on their hair, are most liable to develop bubble hair.
Basically bubble hair is just tiny bubbles at the end
of the hair that are caused by the long term use of
curling irons and other appliances. |
| |
It is
thought that the bubbles occur because it is having
a similar reaction to water boiling. Water boils at
100 degrees and curling tongs tend to heat up to between
120 and 180 degrees. It is literally boiling the water
within the hair and that is what causes the bubbles! |
| |
Usually
the bubble appears at the end of the hair or towards
the end of the hair and after a while it tends to snap
off. If left untreated for long periods of time, your
hair can end up looking really shaggy. Curling tongs
work differently on different days and some days they
are hotter than others. On those days it is all it takes
to cause the bubbles in the hair. |
| |
The condition
is extremely common as most women these days spend a
lot of time styling their hair using heated appliances.
A recent study which tested sixteen different women
brought back evidence of bubbles in the hair of all
of them. Many people say that these bubbles just appear
and they make the mistake of thinking they are just
something that come on very suddenly, but they actually
are not. They develop over time and it takes long periods
of abuse to create them. There is one thing you can
do to prevent them though! |
| |
| Ceramic Styling Products
and Their Benefits to Bubble Hair |
Ceramic
styling products are advised in order to help prevent
bubble hair from occurring. It is recommended that you
use ceramic styling products because they maintain the
same heat throughout your use of them, and the negative
ions that are produced allow the moisture to penetrate
the hair shaft. |
| |
Another
benefit of using ceramic products is that they seal
the hair shaft which helps to keep in moisture and that
in turn helps to keep the hair looking shiny and healthy.
Humidity is also repelled and that prevents the hair
form boiling, hence the bubbles do not appear. |
| |
Metal
styling products simply do not offer enough protection
for the hair. If you are using metal products it is
recommended that you stop using them immediately, even
if you do not currently have bubble hair. This will
help to prevent the condition and it will also give
your hair that extra bit of protection. |
| |
Overall,
when you think of bubbles you think of fairly large
things that you can see. However, the bubbles in ‘bubble
hair’ are often really tiny and although they
are noticeable, you really have to look for them! The
only way you can really treat the condition is if you
go to the hairdresser and have the existing damage cut
off, then discontinue your use of the metal styling
products as soon as possible! |
