Want To Care For Your Babies Skin?
by Louise Forrest

Since the skin of the babies is very sensitive, they dry out easily. So, it is advisable to give baby a bath one every few days and giving daily bath to the babies is not recommended. In between bath, take care to keep clean, baby’s face and the bottom. Before the umbilical cord falls, give only sponge bath to the babies. After it had fallen down, you can give tub bath.

Selection of the timing of the bath is more important. Always give bath for babies before their feeding times. It should be either in the morning or the end of the day. This will help the baby to fall asleep after feeding. In case, if you have fed your baby, then you have to wait at least for 15 minutes or so before bathing to avoid spit up. There are some precautions you have to keep in mind strictly. Never leave your baby alone near a tub or water and not even for a minute. You have to make sure that the room is warm enough and the water is not too hot or cold before putting your baby in the tub. Baby skin is smooth and it burns easily. Never forget this. While giving bath use a wash cloth to gently wipe baby’s face and ears and do not use any thing rough which will damage the skin.

Use always soft brush to scrub your baby’s scalp and rinse well to avoid the disease cradle cap. Cradle cap is a crusting and scaling rash found on the scalps of many healthy babies and look like dirty skin on the scalp. You can also rub a little mineral oil into the scalp before a shampooing. But never put oil on after the shampoo. Some mothers consider cradle cap to be a form of eczema. If the condition persists or spreads, consult your physician, but never use talcum powders for babies. Babies are prone to get neonatal acne. White pimples on the baby’s nose and cheeks usually will come, if you do not keep baby’s skin clean. Also, it is commonly noted in the majority of babies getting developed acne in the first few weeks. This is caused by the hormones prior to delivery. This condition passes by two months. At these periods, do not disturb the pimples and concentrate only on the clean skin maintenance. You need not apply acne creams. This will disappear naturally. In extreme cases, these pimples will get infected and this requires a medical attention.

Babies are also susceptible to hot weather. During this season, they may get prickly heat or heat rash. Never over dress your babies during this season. These rashes develop because your baby’s skins pores will not work properly as it is too early for them to get acclimatize. So, a cool bath and comfortable clothing may help the baby be more comfortable and you need not take any extra precaution to contain this disease.

Never take your babies in sunny days out because the sunlight will affect the babies. Babies have sensitive skin and will get easily affected by sunburn. Sunburn is an acute cutaneous inflammatory reaction that follows excessive exposure of your baby’s skin to ultraviolet radiation (UVR). You should take the time to view all skin care products and if your baby gets sunburn, immediately consult your doctor and take the necessary precautions in the future.
