| Caring For The Skin Of Our
Most Special Person – Our Babies |
| by Louise Forrest |
| |
Our babies
are the love of our lives and require proper care that they
cannot give themselves. We want to avoid irritating their
skin, as it is very sensitive. There are many tips for baby
skin care that should be followed so you avoid irritating
your baby and possibly causing rashes. |
| |
Lanolin Oil
is often used in skin care products and cosmetics. It is an
oil that fails to give proper nutrients especially because
it can contain pesticides. The only type of lanolin oil products
you should use are those in certified organic skin care products,
especially in baby skin care. |
| |
Lotions and
oils such as chamomile, healing oils, lavender, and other
natural oils can be good for your baby’s skin. It will
depend on how sensitive their skin is. There are many adults
allergic to baby oil, it causes rashes, itchy skin, and many
cause their sinuses to close up. Baby oil should be avoided
if you suspect you baby has problems with fragrances and the
ingredients of most oils. |
| |
Soap is commonly
used to bath a baby. This should be used sparingly as most
soap’s contain harmful chemicals with sensitive skin.
If you feel soap is needed try using something without a fragrance
and organic, especially those for sensitive skin. Consult
your pediatrician if you have questions. |
| |
Shampoo is
another detrimental agent depending on the type and how much
hair your baby has. Baby skin care is important and when they
do not have a lot of hair the baby shampoos can dry the skin
out beneath the hair causing rashes. Oily hair often requires
more frequent washing, however you should only do so when
the hair feels and looks dirty. |
| |
Baby powder
has been a long used baby skin care product, however it contains
fragrances and often little granules that can irritate the
skin. Trying the product is okay; with most individuals you
cannot tell if a product is going to be harmful to you. The
same can be said with a baby. While a baby’s skin is
more sensitive than most adults sometimes products can help
alleviate other problems and your baby may not be allergic
to the ingredients. |
| |
As with adults
who have sensitive skin there are products you can use. Avoid
chemical skin care products. Use organic skin care products,
such as items made with lavender, cedarwood, lemon, and aloe
vera. The frequency of bathing your baby is also important
when discussing baby skin care. You want them to have healthy
skin, and frequent bathing can also lead to irritated skin
and rashes. |
| |
If your baby
develops a rash seek you pediatrician, often times they can
suggest alternative products or give you medicine to help
clear up the problem. Babies are susceptible to eczema a skin
condition that causes rashes, irritated skin as a result of
dry skin, though there are eczema disorders. Again a pediatrician
can help you medicate the skin condition as well as suggest
proper baby skin care. |
| |
Baby’s
skin needs more attention than we may find ourselves giving.
Products that are labeled for babies or young children may
contain anti bacterial ingredients, synthetic fragrances,
and petrochemicals that will harm out babies skin. When you
shop for baby skin care products remember there are harmful
ingredients and the better products are 95% organic. |
| |
Sensitive skin
is a trial for any age, but it can be a larger problem for
babies who cannot voice the cause of the irritation. Proper
baby skin care is most important to keep rashes, irritants,
and other problems from occurring. Like all bodies there are
natural bacteria’s that our skin needs to remain healthy
and products that remove these will end up irritating your
child. |
