Baby Skin Care Tips for the Changing Season
by Louise Forrest

Baby’s skin is significantly and highly sensitive to the extreme or even slight changes in temperatures and climate. Thus, as the season changes, parents could notice that the overall skin condition of the baby also changes. Such skin changes can be alarming because baby skin can manifest adverse changes like redness and formation of rashes. For some, there are spots that appear indicating major skin condition changes.

Because the baby’s skin is very delicate and sensitive to the changing of seasons, which is inevitable, it would be helpful if parents would observe the following simple guidelines.

-
Regardless of the prevailing season, use lotions and baby soaps that are highly recommended by doctors and dermatologists. As you know, the delicate baby skin can be easily harmed and affected by the harsh and allergenic ingredients that are usually found in various popular baby skin care soap products. When using oils, choose those that are unscented as fragrances usually are harsh to baby skin.
-
As much as possible, always apply generous amounts of moisturizing creams to the skin of the baby. There are also helpful ointments that could be prescribed and can be very useful to get rid of dryness that appears at some specific areas of the baby’s skin.
-
The baby surely needs to be bathed regularly. Be reminded to bathe the baby at most once a day. If possible, you could also skip daily baths and do it every other day. Use lukewarm water always. Bathing usually takes off the natural lipids and oils that help retain moisture in the baby skin. When bathing the baby, spend just about 10 minutes for doing the action.
-
When using air conditioners or heaters in the room, make sure to use a potent and effective humidifier. Doing so would help bolster moisture in the air, which could be good to the baby’s skin.
-
Do not overdress the baby. When the weather is cold, use sweaters or light clothing to protect the infant from the cold temperature. When the weather is hot, dress the infant with light and cotton clothes to help prevent excessive sweating that could be bad for the health.

Baby skin care can be made easy and more convenient if parents would only be more vigilant and more observant. If there would be problems that may arise due to external and environmental factors, it would be best if immediate advice and assistance from doctors and experts would be sought at once. Take care of your baby’s skin. Doing so would help make the skin as flawless and healthy as possible. When the infant grows up, for sure, he or she would thank you so much for being responsible in taking care or his or her skin while in infancy stages.
