Tips to Better Conceal Acne-Damaged Skin Using Makeup
by Louise Forrest

If the quality of your skin has been affected and damaged by the onset and existence of acne even years ago, for sure you are always bothered by its appearance. Acne is a severe skin problem that leaves marks like scars and blemishes. There are several ways to curtail the problem, but for some people, who do not have much resources and time or who are afraid of trying out surgeries and complicated skin procedures, good cosmetics techniques could effectively do the trick.

As you all know, makeup helps boost aesthetic appeal by creating an illusion. For example, blemished skin can look very flawless, smaller eyes can appear larger, big noses can look small and lips can appear smoother. If you have unwanted acne scars, the marks could effectively be concealed if you would choose the best products and if you would apply makeup using certain recommended expert techniques. Currently, there are three known guidelines that would help just about anyone hide the unlikely scars and blemishes in the facial area.

1. Apply proper skin moisture.

Contrary to old practices that skin should be thoroughly dried before application of makeup, experts advise that proper and effective moisturizers should be applied prior to the procedure. As always, the facial skin should be properly and thoroughly cleansed and moisturized so that the makeup would appear smoother when applied. A solution of vitamin E oil (about 5 to 10 drops) and rosewater could make for a good and recommended moisture mist. To apply the solution to the face, put the solution into a 2-ounce bottle spray. Before using, remember to shake the bottle so that the oil would be evenly distributed. This simple solution could also be readily bought for the drug store for about $10.

2. Have an appropriate liquid foundation.

Setting a good foundation in the face would be a great help. The foundation functions as it is, a foundation where on top, other cosmetics would be applied, particularly makeup. Experts warn that setting the foundation appropriately and correctly would definitely make the trick work. This should distinctly and effectively match the skin tone and texture if you would ever aim to hide apparent skin damage. Have a full-coverage matte if you want to totally conceal your blemishes and scars. Doing so would facilitate the laying of a thin makeup coat so that unwanted skin imperfections can be hid.

3. Remove your makeup completely after use.

After a day using makeup to conceal blemishes and scars of acne, you should make sure to completely remove the cosmetics off your skin. Doing so would help the skin rejuvenate and breathe for itself. Makeup substances also have the potential of accumulating and soothing into the skin's deep pores to further aggravate acne situations. To remove the makeup safely, use a cotton ball and witch hazel. Put witch hazel into the cotton and wipe the makeup off from the surface of the skin. If you feel as if your facial skin is breathing, that would indicate that the task has been done completely.
