Is Having Acne Giving You An Attitude?
by Louise Forrest

Are you getting fed up with having acne? To you having acne is not just a skin condition. It goes a lot further than that. But how you deal with acne is the real test. People clearly react differently to suffering with the acne condition, even if the symptoms are exactly the same.

At the end of the day, no two people will react the same way to being a sufferer of acne.

But before you get all worked up, you need to realise that all you have is acne and nothing else. It may be unattractive but it is not life threatening in anyway. The best thing to do is not too worry too much about it, otherwise you will just get yourself all worked up and may even become depressed. And this depression could prevent you from effectively dealing with your acne.

What you need to do is to get all the information about acne. There are various triggers that can lead to acne, but you need to be aware that all the information that is so widely available can be misleading, and what you come across could be false information.

For instance, many people actually believe that eating too much fatty foods is the root cause of acne, or not being clean will contribute to a person developing acne.

Taking the above statement just a little further, clearly you need to keep the skin clean for general wellbeing and looking after your skin will generally prevent the development of acne

It is so important that you know all the facts about acne and there are people who would believe that scrubbing away at the skin will help, but this will clearly have the opposite effect, simply because your skin is very sensitive and would need to be treated with extreme care.

Exfoliating the skin too often would actually make matters worse and over time could make the skin very sensitive. The skin would be more prone to eruptions and the there is greater risk of the spread of infection to others areas of the skin.

As far as diet is concerned – there is really nothing to suggest that fatty foods have a direct link towards contributing towards acne. However, a healthy diet will stand you in better stead than a diet that is lacking fresh fruit and vegetables.

Another problem is with the media. Often you see many stories or treatments offering an instant cure for acne. Many promotions often include celebrities how claim to have used a certain product – but again, you need to realise that there is no overnight treatment for acne and that it can take time. What is suitable for one person is not always suitable for another.

Pressure and stress can also lead to the development of acne, especially amongst young adults and teenagers how will be at college or about to embark upon a career for the first time ever.

The big concern is what such groups are being told about the problem and this can often do more harm than good. Acne can and is very upsetting and can also be distressing for parents of teenagers who suffer from acne. Parents really do need to offer support and guidance to their teenage children and to point them in the direction in terms of finding suitable treatments.

Also parents should help their children realise that acne is a very normal part of the growing up process and in the majority of cases, will eventually go away. This will help maintain a level of confidence to those who suffer from acne.
