Do Vitamins Cure Acne? |
| by Louise Forrest |
| |
It is
often stated that you are what you eat and that your
diet has a diet effect on the condition of your skin.
So should vitamin tablets be able to help with treating
acne?
Sadly this is not the case. If you are suffering
from acne and thought that be taking a few vitamin
pills will end all your woes then you are likely to
be very disappointed.
As we are aware acne is generally a case of their
being an hormone imbalance within the body. Now the
body is able to regulate these hormones if it is able
to receive essential nutrients such as vitamins.
But this is no magic bullet so thinking that by taking
vitamins will be the answer is a mistake. In order
to see any real benefit, you need to consider a much
larger picture.
One of the vitamins that are thought to be beneficial
for acne is vitamin b5. This is not the case and it
has been shown that if this is taken in very high
dosages then it can be very damaging for the overall
health of the body. As well as this it has no impact
in the treatment of acne.
Even worse, if you are taking this vitamin in large
doses, there are side effects such as tiredness and
loss of energy. It really is not worth taking the
risk in order to beat your acne. If your overall health
is suffering than treating acne will not be the only
problem that you will have to deal with.
The vitamin b groups are meant to work together in
proportion in order to maintain the overall health
of your body. If this does not happen, and you are
just popping lots of vitamin b tablets then your body
will just not be able to cope and this can lead to
problems as mentioned above.
Also it is thought that excess amounts of b5 takes
away the ability of other b vitamins – namely
b3, b6 and b12, all of which have their own important
function to perform.
You will be please to here that it is not all doom
and gloom when it comes to taking vitamins. Rather
than take b5 you can take pantethine instead. The
advantage this vitamin has over b5 is that it is more
easily absorbed in to the body.
But whilst this may seem to be a great alternative
you still need to be caution not to take too much. |
