Do You Have Rosacea? |
| by Louise Forrest |
| |
Rosacea
is something that you may have not heard of , but it
does affect the face and sometimes quite badly. It is
said that up to 14 million of the American population
suffers from rosacea, and yet there are some people
who just do not even know that they have the condition.
Whilst not very common it is very similar in the appearance
of acne and many people actually think that they have
acne when in fact they don’t. Depending on the
severity of the problem, many sufferers are very embarrassed
by the problem that they avoid all social contact with
other people.
What causes rosacea is not known and there is also no
cure at present for this condition. You can tell if
you have rosacea if you have any of the following symptoms |
| |
| - |
redness of the skin |
| - |
spots that look a lot
like acne |
| - |
blood vessels that are
visible |
| - |
eye problems |
|
| |
As well
as these symptoms some people experience a burning sensation
within the skin and this can also lead to the skin becoming
very thick. If you are seeing any of these signs then
you need to see your doctor without delay. The conditions
of rosacea are seen in a number of different stages:
1 – people are seeming to have flushing and a
constant redness on the skin
2- here you will notice a constant redness as well as
the formation of bumps and spots on the skin
3- this is normally seen by thickening of the skin and
the nose too becomes larger
4- there are eye problems that can lead to a loss of
vision
So what can be done to treat rosacea?
If you look after yourself and your skin then you can
stand a chance of preventing acne from developing. But
this is not the case with rosacea as there is no known
reason as to why it happens. So since each person is
different so to will be the severity and so the first
point of call will be to visit a doctor who will be
able to discuss the range of options that are available
to you.
Should you have the condition then it is important that
you continue to care for your skin and to be in control
of the products that you are using. The process needs
to be very gentle and you should not be applying anything
harsh to the skin, and never use hot water to wash your
face and this can cause some more damage which is not
what you want to happen. Never towel dry your skin after
washing, simply pat dry with a soft cotton towel only. |
