Common Myths About Acne
by Louise Forrest

If you are one of the many millions of people to suffer from acne, then you are convinced that you have a problem on your hands, or rather your face and possibly your entire body also. If you think you are up against a bad situation, you couldn't be more right.

This does not sound very comforting does it? In many cases you are probably convinced that you acne problem cannot get any worse. Or can it? But as strange as it may seem, you could be about to hear the greatest news concerning your acne.

Well, it is really very simple. You are certainly not going to be very happy with having a breakout of acne in fact you are more than likely to be very stressed about it, which in some cases can cause acne to get even worse.

First of all, just do not panic. There is a vital rule that you must always observe. In order to get rid of your acne you must have all of your facts. Time and time again there is just too much information concerning acne and it can be confusing in determining what information is correct and what is just plain false.

Having the correct information is just so important. It is important that you try to relax and get ready to get to work in order to cure your acne. Ignore all the hype and false information that is readily available and seek out for yourself what is right and you will solve your acne problem.

Always stay positive and you should always remember that acne, although unpleasant, is a very common skin condition and you can seek the right help.

As mentioned there is just so much information about acne that it is hard to know what is correct and what is false. Let us begin by taking a view at some of the common so called myths concerning acne and just see how accurate they are.

Acne is for teenagers only. This is not a true statement and probably one of the biggest myths concerning acne today. Acne can develop at any stage of a person’s life

You could say instead that the teenage years are stressful because of the number of physical and psychological changes that young people are faced with at this time.

As mentioned, acne can develop at any time, even very late in life. It just seems to be happening to teenagers more since teenagers are going through more bodily changes.

A poor diet can lead to acne. This is often quoted as being a common cause for the development of acne. But we can say for sure that it is not true. Whilst not true it does not mean that you can feast on junk food. You should eat a balance diet of fresh fruit and vegetables. Whilst there is nothing to suggest that a poor diet will cause diet, it will not help your skin to glow.

Acne is related to hygiene: Here again is another statement that is not strictly true.

Some say that if you do not keep your skin clean then your acne problem will simply get worse. But on the other hand, excessive cleaning can also make the problem worse also. If for instance you over exfoliate, you can cause the bacteria to spread causing even more acne to develop.

Girls are affected by acne more than boys. This is something that you should not believe ever. In fact, it is probably the opposite. Boys tend to get acne more than more due to the hormone androgen which is found in boy’s, and this is behind making the skin greasy and as a result an outbreak of acne is likely to develop.

If you are stressed then you will get acne. This again is not a true statement. Whilst stressing about your acne will not help, the result of being under stress releases certain hormones which could make your acne more severe.

Long hair causes hair. Again there is no evidence to suggest this so called fact. But having hair that is oily which is in constant contact with the skin is not going to help matters. If you have a hair style that is in contact with the skin, you need to ensure that the hair is always clean.

Acne is contagious: This statement again is equally untrue.

Well, hopefully, a number of your doubts and fears about acne have been laid to rest. So relax and accept your acne as normal. As long as you don't do anything bizarre, your acne problem will be no worse than most.

Hopefully many of your doubts over the causes of acne have been put to bed. You can now relax and the best thing for you is to simply accept that acne is a normal way of life for many. Provided that you keep a good diet and be as healthy as possible, your acne will be no worst that most.

Follow the guidelines in this article and other articles and in no time at all, your acne will be a thing of the past.
