How Stress Affects Acne |
| by Louise Forrest |
| |
For some
time now there has between a lot of confusion as to
whether there is an actual connection between stress
and the development of acne. But through some established
it can be said that there may be some connection between
the two.
From previous studies we have seen that acne cannot
be caused stress. So then just what exactly is being
said at this moment? When you are under stress the
body does release more hormones. And it is quite well
known that the body does produce more adrenaline when
the body is preparing for something.
It is the brain that is controlling the release of
such hormones and this activity also stimulates the
production of sebum and too much can lead to the development
of acne.
Also, if you are overly stressed then this can actually
slow down the rate of healing which your body is used
to. It is suggested that the healing rate can be reduced
to as much as 40% and so this is why it is suggested
that stress and acne are connected.
As well coping with stress having poor lifestyle
habits are considered to have a greater negative impact
on the surface of the skin. Stress does seem to aggravate
the condition of acne as well as having a negative
effect on the overall health of the body.
Another interesting fact is that women who are middle
aged, a condition known as acne urticata seems to
occur. But given its name, this condition really resembles
that of eczema than it does acne and seems to be common
in women who suffer great deals of stress as well
as those who may be suffering from depression.
Tackling stress in order to tackle your acne seems
to be an essential step that you must take otherwise
not doing so could make the condition much worse.
Should you lead a stressful life, you could very
well be making the condition of your acne much worse.
But as mentioned there is no real suggestion to suggest
that acne and stress are 100% linked. But having such
stress will show on your skin at some point.
Also take note of the place that you are working.
If you are working in an area that is very greasy
you may develop acne due to your working conditions.
And if the environment in which you are working is
also very stressful, then this too can lead to you
developing acne. |
