Dealing With Acne When You Shouldn’t Be
by Louise Forrest

As an elderly person you would think that you would be able to enjoy life and potentially retirement. You still want to be active and take part in certain activities and you want to stay as young looking as much as possible. But from time to time there will be the odd sign that your body is not what it used to be.

But despite your body telling you that it needs more rest than it once did, you have suddenly developed acne! What on earth can be going on? This is probably the last thing in the world you expected to happen to you.

You would think that despite even the other health issues that an elderly person may experience such as stiff joints, another unexpected problem is the development of acne. It would seem however that elderly people are more prone to a condition known as rosacea, which affects the skin area of the face.

Rosacea is a reddening of the skin and can be very sore and this can affect the entire face and not just a certain area such as the cheeks. It can affect men and women and there does not appear to be an age when it does not strike. In fact it can happen at any time in a persons life. But saying this, it normally develops around the time of menopause.

Whilst, like acne there is no real cause for the development of rosacea, this condition can last several years in fact. It is suggested that it is caused by easting foods and or drinking too much such as whisky. But just like acne, there is no real link between the two, and this is just a possible suggestion.

What you need to do is to try study your diet and try to determine if there are any potential foods that could be causing your rosacea. Try to eliminate it from your diet and take note if there is any difference to how you feel and look. This is very much an experimentation process and so could take some time, but will be worthwhile if you can identify what food groups you are not suited to.

Doing exercise is also very important and this will help to keep the blood flowing within you and help to keep your skin cells healthy. But you do need to try and avoid using any kind of cosmetics as this can simply cause further problems to the skin. As well as this, you must ensure that all goods that you do use are alcohol free to avoid any irritation to the skin.

Eating well is also advised and you should make sure you eat a good portion of fruit and also fish is also very good for the skin. If you do not like to eat fish then you may want to consider taking capsules as a replacement.
